A burned copy of the holy Qur'an was found covered with flies and feces in a Muslim area in Nashville.

The Qu'an was found yesterday on a doorstep by a Muslim man who lives nearby in the LeNore Garden Apartments complex, which is largely populated by Muslim immigrants from Somalia.

Ali Salad Mohamed, who discovered the book, said: "It seems that it's been put in feces, bleached and burned," About 15,000-20,000 Muslims live in the Nashville area, one leader said.

Imam Ibrahim urged the Muslim community to show their concerns through peaceful means. "This city has been peaceful, nice, respectful to everybody. So let us not forget that." Ibrahim said.

I'm sure a police report was taken, and we have the man's statement. No getting around this by saying it didn't happen.

Knowing the fellow was a Somali, I have a feeling that besides religious hatred, this act showed racial bias as well.

It is sad; I have been to a Somali zikar and I felt that I was at home with my brothers and sisters-the Somalis are know are kind and hospitible.

9. What I walked away

with was that indeed the artist felt exactly the same way you do that by desecrating the crucifix and the desecrating the koran are one and the same. Both are equally condemned by the artist. He was pointing to the irony of it.

The artists interpetation is what I stated above. As to the way(s) in which people respond to the art is another story.
