Fugitive Pastor Arrested on child sexual assault charge
A pastor who has been a wanted man for months is now in custody in Gastonia.
Robert Adams was wearing camouflage as he was brought into the Gaston County Police Dept. just after 4 p.m. Friday.
Adams was found in a Lincoln County home late Friday afternoon. Police said they found him thanks to an anonymous tip.
Investigators said Adams sexually assaulted a child.
He was a pastor at the Mount Calvary Tabernacle Church on Camp Rotary Road, but he had not been seen since March, when the allegations were first made.

Priest Arrested for Fight With Another Priest
ARLINGTON, Va. - A fight between two local priests sent one to the hospital and the other to jail. The fight was all about vacation time.

Parishioners at Our Lady of Angels say the sight of Father Charles Smith's police mug shot is a shock. The reason he was arrested, for assaulting the parish priest, is something no one can understand.

"You would think a religious person, you would think they would be beyond violence," said Tony Nguyen, who lives in Woodbridge.
An argument in the church's rectory about vacation time between Smith and his boss, Reverend Paul Eversole, turned violent. Eversole called 9-1-1 for help and was treated at the hospital for a cut over his eyes. Prince William County (web | news) police took Smith into custody.

"Priests are, in fact, human and I guess they just plain lost their temper," offered Woodbridge resident Timothea Morton.

Irish Catholic nuns offer compensation for Church child sex abuse
The Sisters of Mercy in Dublin have offered $193 million in money and property to those who were abused by nuns in their order.

The religious order made the announcement Thursday, saying the amount was “reparation for the suffering of children while in residential institutions within Mercy care."

The Sisters of Mercy ran five schools for girls in Dublin, and physical assaults and humiliation were a regular occurrence. One of the Order’s institutions at Goldenbridge was notorious for the level of abuse carried out under its roof.

MILWAUKEE - Former Milwaukee Catholic Archbishop Rembert Weakland shredded copies of reports concerning sexual abuse by priests.

That’s according to legal depositions Weakland gave in the 1990’s – testimony that was made public today by the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests.

The group said the depositions were uncovered as a part of lawsuits by abuse victims who accuse the Milwaukee Archdiocese of fraud. Weakland had admitted destroying copies of weekly reports on the subject which were sent to his office.

The survivors’ group says it wants Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm to review the depositions to see if any criminal violations occurred. They also want the income archbishop, Jerome Listecki, to discipline Weakland and others who may have covered up priest abuse.

1. Let me play devil's advocate for a moment...
-They're not real Scotsman Christians.
-This has nothing to do with religion
-Their 'church' isn't a real Church.
-Sigh...another broad brush attack on Christians.
-They're not as bad as Hitler/Stalin/Pol Pot.
-You just want to ban religion.
-They obviously never read the Bible, or else he'd know that Jesus was against child rape.
-You can't prove they aren't secret atheists.
-Clearly, they're mentally ill.
-This is a Catholic conspiracy.
-This is an anti-Catholic conspiracy.
-Stop disrespecting my beliefs—they’re personal!!!

Former priest held on sex charges

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Maybe clergy should be fitted with http://www.post-trib.com/news/porter/1774539,wigglesworth_0917.article">chastity belts as part of their vows.

A Valparaiso man will not be released from jail after being arrested on charges of attempting to have sex with a 15-year-old teen.

U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Rodovich filed the decision Wednesday in federal court, saying in his order that Wayne E. Wigglesworth, 68, had been shown to have previous contact with a 9-year-old boy after being told by Valparaiso police to stop.

Wigglesworth was arrested in August after police pulled his car over in Chicago. The 15-year-old boy, who was in the passenger seat, told police that he had met Wigglesworth on an online site, TeenChat.com, and that the two had exchanged phone numbers, according to a probable cause affidavit. Wigglesworth, who had told the teen he was 43, eventually asked to meet the teen so they could perform oral sex on each other, according to the affidavit.

…..

The government had presented evidence to Rodovich that Wigglesworth, who was an ordained Catholic priest in Baltimore from 1967 to 1982, met a 9-year-old boy at his wife’s nursing home in Valparaiso in February.

Wigglesworth then called the boy two times before the boy’s parents found out and went to police, according to the detention order. Despite a police warning, Wigglesworth called the boy another time.

These days it seems children are safer with http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112558103">lead tainted toys than they are with “http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/144421">Youth Pastors”.

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

I’ll give him credit for resigning rather than demanding he be allowed to keep his position because he prayed and got absolution from God. Hence Hamblin, Jr., was pastor at the West Middletown Church of God in Madison.

MADISON TWP — A former church pastor has been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching an underage female, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

“Christian Values” in Action; Assistant Pastor Arrested and Charged for Allegedly Dumping Trash on Disabled Man.

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Of course whatever sentence he gets, if any, he’s still considered morally superior in the eyes of many to the most law-abiding atheist or LGBT person because he’s a “Christian”. From http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_13258115}enverPost.com>:

An assistant pastor at a Morrison church has been put on suspension and charged with neglect of an at-risk person after allegedly dumping trash on a mentally handicapped volunteer last year.

According to an arrest warrant, Jason Smoker, 36, asked the unnamed developmentally disabled volunteer at Red Rocks Baptist Church to clean out the church van last year but was dissatisfied with how the job was done.
…..
Smoker allegedly had the person lay blindfolded on the parking lot pavement as Smoker poured trash from the bus on top of him. The victim an investigator the incident did not “hurt him physically, but did emotionally,” according to the arrest affidavit.
…..
According to the church website, Smoker is the church’s facilities manager, who also is responsible for technology, a men’s ministry and an addiction recovery program
…..

A man like that shouldn’t be in charge of anything involving other people, particularly vulnerable people. Maybe he can get a job cleaning buses, considering he’s so particular about the task.
