Malaysian court rules non-Muslims may call God Allah
Source: BBC News

A court in Malaysia has ruled that Christians have a constitutional right to use the word Allah when referring to God.

The High Court said a government ban on non-Muslims using the word was unconstitutional.

The court was ruling on a lawsuit filed by the Herald, a publication of the Catholic Church in Malaysia, in 2007.

The authorities had insisted that Allah was an Islamic word which could only be used by Muslims.

3. what *should* Christians call Allah?
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 06:32 PM by justabob
....Just because I am curious what the alternative is, and if the BBC article mentioned it, I missed it.... What is the recommended name for Christians to use? The Muslim Deity? That sky guy that spoke to Mohammad? Supreme mugwump? God?

This just seems over-the-top, even for religion. I am glad this non-issue was resolved, but still curious.

8. They are amateurs compared to U.S. Mormons
They believe in blood atonement, that Satan and Jesus were brothers in a tiff on who would be the Messiah on Earth, and that every man can move into his own universe with an inferior woman sealed to him through eternal marriage if he keeps the covenants of the people in Jesus Jammies.
