I think I'm at the right church
Interesting sounding preaching/teaching series coming up at our church.

When Christians are Hypocritical
When Christians are Anti-Gay
When Christians are Closed Minded
When Christians get it right.

I don't know if I somehow happened to end up at a liberal church, or if part of why I became a liberal and believe the things I do, are because I grew up going to this church? For awhile I was kind of turned off to church and religion because of what I'd see some Christians believe in - when that is something you see in the media as the most prominent Christians I think maybe it's easy to start believing that all Christian churches share those beliefs, but they don't.

1. Church
Oh and I'm Methodist - which I understand was the same denomination of Bush?

4. Compare that to
growing up Quaker, and then learning it was the same denomination as Nixon. (I mean, WTF?)

5. Nixon - Bush
Well I guess what it does show you that even among one denomination (if I have that right) there are differences in the liberal/conservative lean of a particular church.

2. Some of them got the point
and sometimes you need to look for a long time to find a church that did.

They all dropped the ball on the Dispensationalist heresy for over 100 years. That's why it looks so terrible now.

3. Could be called "When Christians concern themselves with their spiritual path, instead of
worrying morbidly what everyone else is doing."

7. I was thinking today that I'm at the right church too.
It makes you feel good to know you've found a place where you're comfortable. I especially agree with you about seeing so many of the religious whack jobs in the news and just general public. Scary!

When our minister invited people for communion today, she stressed that it was not a Presbyterian table, but a table for all people. Also, I liked it a few weeks ago before she went to Israel she joked from the pulpit that it would take 4 men to do her job while she was away. When she came back, she told us about all the walking they did, up hill and down dale. She said they agreed that Jesus must have had buns of steel. ;)
