Muslim fundamentalist threaten South Park
Edited on Tue Apr-20-10 10:13 AM by Ian David
In 2005, Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard drew a series of cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Mohammad. The cartoons were satire and critical of the Muslim religion. Muslims offended by these cartoons rioted and threatened to kill Westergaard. Since then, publishers and broadcasters have banned any and all depictions of the Muslim prophet Mohammad out of fear of violence.

Before the riots broke out, the creators of the Comedy Central cartoon show South Park had an episode which featured Mohammad as a religious superhero along side Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Joseph Smith, Krishna, Lao Tzu, and Sea man. After the Danish cartoon incident, the creators of South Park had planned a two part episode which was again going to feature the Muslim prophet, but the network forced them to censor it out of fear of violence from Islamic fundamentalists.

Last week, Comedy Central aired the first of a two part episode of South Park dealing with this issue again. In the first part, in order to get around the restrictions on depicting Mohammad, the creator of South Park had Mohammad dressed in a bear suit to hide his depiction. They hope to generate controversy which will get the network to reconsider the ban and allow them to depict Mohammad in the second part which airs on Wednesday night at 10pm on Comedy Central.

Sunday, a fundamentalist Muslim website called, RevolutionMuslim.com “warned” the creators of South Park that they may have already stepped over the line and that if they continue, they risk violent retribution. Abu Talhah al Amrikee, he author of the article wrote:

“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”

1. If God is omnipotent..
why do these people feel the urge to defend or avenge their God? Can't He take care of it Himself?

17. To be fair
seems like the old Greek and Roman gods liked that too. Must be a flaw in the model.

9. Because they think it gives them a more favorable position
with the creator of the universe. Makes perfect sense from their perspective.

13. Any person that uses their religion
to promote violent acts does not really believe or trust their god. I would have to say that their belief is very weak.

6. Don't like Southpark...Don't watch Southpark...But they have a right to be as revolting and uggly...
as their absurd little hearts desire. They should get Mohamed, Jesus, and Moses to do lunch together at an all you can eat Hawaiian Luau pork-fest, then go out for a threesome on the beech.

14. One of those cartoons was Mohammad
looking down from heaven yelling, "Tell them to stop. We're running out of virgins."
Those people have no sense of humor.

19. Yeah.
What they're really upset at is the idea of Muhammed as a furry when they didn't think of it first. They wouldn't have had a bear. Perhaps a bunny, because then all the Salafis could dress up like bunnies at mosque and just say that they're imitating the Prophet. fubh.

18. That is a picture good enough for Jehovah.
What these idiots don't realize is that they only serve to publicize the show further. People that have never seen the show or stopped watching long ago are now going to watch the episode.

The same situation with the cartoons.

But hey, these assclowns acting out only wakes more and more people up to the bullshit that is religion.
