A good man of faith died last week.
One of the only Christian leaders that I've ever had any respect for.

Here is a link to his bio:

http://www.ancient-christianity.com/bio.html

I got to know Bishop Bernie before he became Arch Bishop, when he was the head of the local interfaith council. I attended interfaith services several times a year. While I don't subscribe to any form of organized religion, I like to find commonalities across faiths, and note those universal truths that are present in most.

Bernie Price was a man who lived those truths.

I remember him for his work with the interfaith council.

I remember him for standing up for the local Wiccans when local fundies protested, disrupted their activities, and engaged in hate speech against them.

I remember him speaking at ceremonies on "National Coming Out Day" in support of GLBT members of our community.

I don't live in that community anymore, but I remember Bishop Bernie with love and respect. I can't be there for a memorial service, but I thought this forum might be a place I could offer my thanks to him for his life, and to say, "Goodspeed."

1. LWolf, what a lovely tribute to this remarkable man.
And thank you for introducing him. Sad to say, I had not heard of him nor Ancient Christianity. I look forward to learning more about that in the future. Bishop Bernie has left an incredible legacy and one can only imagine how many have benefited from his good works while on this Earth. Their numbers are, I suspect, legion.

Blessings.
