Is anyone else watching the PBS series God in America...

It really shows how and why we, the collective not the individual, became so god obsessed.

It helps explain why almost 60% of the people in this country, here at the beginning of the 21st century, after centuries of scientific breakthroughs, still hold a deep belief in a supreme creator and a moral arbitrator.

I really suggest anyone who can to watch so that those of us who are non believers can better understand the reasons why we find our country teetering on the precipice of a theocracy.

It's rather frightening to see how close we are now to that hoary Shinning City on a Hill but also enlightening to see how much better it was when people sought religion as a pathway to social justice and not a way to attain and then maintain political power.
