Christians Hire Stalker-Truck for Atheist Bus Ads
Tuesday December 7, 2010

Conservative Christians in Fort Worth have come up with an "interesting" response to the atheist bus ad that has everyone's underwear in a twist: hire a truck emblazoned with a Christian ad to stalk any busses carrying the atheist ad. Yes, an advertisement announcing that atheists exist and aren't evil demands an immediate response from Christians!

I guess it just wouldn't be acceptable for citizens in Fort Worth to be left thinking about the possibility that atheism is a legitimate position. No, it's important that the last thing people think about after seeing the atheist ad is God and belief in God.

--snip--

Of course, even if they did decide to criticize, it looks like they might have a hard time finding the people in question. Isn't it curious that they want to hide their identities? Why are they embarrassed about hiring a truck to stalk busses? Do you suppose they might have some inkling that this behavior is childish at best and perhaps inappropriately aggressive?

1. My God is bigger than your non-God - and this truck proves it
Anyone else notice that the pastors paying for this moving billboard do not wish to be identified? Interesting.

10. I love it, hilarious. I hope a another religion starts to follow Christian Truck
with their own banner. Eventually, there could be a constant parade of vehicles expressing different views about the nature of reality.

12. His previous commentary on the bus ads is worth a read too.
Christians Outraged at Ad that Reveals Atheists Can Be Good
http://atheism.about.com/b/2010/12/06/christians-outraged-at-ad-that-reveals-atheists-can-be-good.htm

I particularly appreciate these two paragraphs.

It's curious that Christian leaders consider it an "insult" for atheists to say that they can be good people merely because of the time of the year. Do theists own December? No. Do Christians own December? No. So why should atheists retreat to a closet and refrain from announcing their existence, much less announcing that they aren't evil, merely because it's December?

Just how delicate and fragile are the sensibilities of Christians that they would consider it an "insult" to learn in December that atheists not only exist, but can in fact be moral human beings? Just how insecure must Christians be in their beliefs that they consider it an "attack" whenever it is announced that non-Christians exist and that being a Christian isn't necessary?

17. Heath Hill's Lime Media advertising company is doing this
Your fox link say "An anonymous group is trying to draw attention away from atheistic billboards posted on Fort Worth buses"

Here's a reference to Lime:

Atheist campaign countered by Christians

Updated yesterday at 2:40 PM
... "The message is simple: That God loves us, and God loves the atheists," said Heath Hill, president of Lime Media. His company's trucks bear the heavenly message, paid for by anonymous business owners ... "I've got no problem absolutely with their ad or their messaging," Hill added. "God just wants to let them know that He loves them." ... http://www.kvue.com/news/state/111458934.html

My own suspicion might be that the anonymous collective underwriting this consists mainly of Heath Hill, who thereby leverages the "cpntroversy" into free publicity for his advertising company

18. You could be right about that.
But one has to wonder why those that are putting up the money want to remain anonymous. Maybe they are not sure if jesus would approve. I don't think he would.
