Instead of posting four paragraphs, I am going to paraphrase the five major 2010 religious stories according to the three different sources in the article.

1. Ground Zero Mosque/Koran burning.

2. Various religious groups help after the earthquake in Haiti; one Baptist relief group is charged with child smuggling.

3. The Pope delays action against pedophile priests in Ireland.

4. The Tea Party.

5. The Catholic Opposition to HCR because they fear abortion funding.

OR

1. Ground Zero Mosque/Koran burning.

2. Atheists know more about religion than theists.

3. The Tea Party.

4. Various religious groups help after the earthquake in Haiti; one Baptist relief group is charged with child smuggling.

5. Oklahoma tries to ban Islamic and international law.

OR

1. Glen Close campaigns for mental illness awareness.

2. An actress finally finds happiness in LA.

3. A disabled dog that makes everyone happy.

4. A French couple set up a bakery in a dying town, the town is revitalized.

5. A struggling single mother returns to her foster home and finds hope.

What are your top five 2010 religious stories? Would you pick major world events, such as the ones in the first two lists, or would you pick smaller, more personal events, such as the third list?

1. A somewhat different take on your question.
I thought this list was interesting and pretty much fit under your thread.

Steve McSwain on Huffington Post asks: What are the 10 top spiritual lessons learned in the past decade? These give you some idea of his suggestions which are accompanied by slides appropriate to the suggestion:

  • Since the future is unknowable, live unto this day.
  • Retaliation is easy; forgiveness is hard. Practice forgiveness, lest your hurts quickly turn to hate.
  • "If you meet a peaceful person, emulate her. If you meet angry person, look within."
  • Avoid extremes; seek balance.
  • Be not quick to point out the splinter of wrong in another's eyes when a two-by-four protrudes from your own.
  • There's a chasm of difference between intimacy and interaction.
  • There is NO security in anything material. Everything is passing away.
  • "Celebrate our diversity; respect our differences."
  • "Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action."
  • The happiest people are generous people.
