What part of Christianity is a system of ideas, and what part is a system of attitudes? |

Perhaps I should say a bit about what I mean by a system of ideas versus a system of attitudes. In a system of attitudes, logically inconsistent ideas can be perfectly compatible with each other within the mind of an adherent of the system of attitudes. In a system of attitudes, there aren't any general principles that can be relied upon. Instead, if you are an adherent and you are trying to begin to think for yourself, then you must rely upon some authority figure or fellow adherents will simply ignore your reasoning and your conclusions. Instead of general principles, there are very specific claims followed by vast over-generalizations that are basically meaningless slogans because they cannot actually be applied to reach any conclusions.
Any comments or questions?
