Jet Blue flight 292 prayer thread |
|
I am praying for the safe landing of the people on this flight.
Sending a prayer, good vibes or what ever you feel comfortable with couldn't hurt anything.

7. I am praying with all my heart. |
|
Please, God, please let them land safely.
Let the pilots remain focused and clear, let them do their work without fear or anxiety.
Let the people on the plane be safe and unhurt.
Let the plane's safety features work unimpeded.
Let the people on the ground do their jobs flawlessly.
Let everything go as it should.

They need all the prayers they can get. Here's hoping the crew is given the strength, wisdom, and courage, as much as it takes, to get that plane down safely. How scary...

30. Hurrah! It Worked!! The Power Of Prayer! It's A MIRACLE!! |
|
:eyes:
But if the deity was going to get involved, why didn't it just FIX the landing gear? Why would the deity allow such a thing to happen in the first place?

32. To paraphrase Jon Stewart.... |
|
God wanted the landing gear to fail, THAT was the act of god... if aything, god was trying to KILL these people... his plan was foiled by the crews satanic competence!

33. Like the recent Air France flight... |
|
...that had trouble and got all the passengers evacuated in minutes.
The clueless morons in the American media, as usual, started braying the "M" word from every broadcast and editorial page: "miraclemiraclemiracle...!!!"
Air France, thank their little grumpy rationalist hearts, indignantly replied that miracles had nothing to do with it. The passengers got out safely because of excellent flight-crew training.

35. As I'm fond of saying... |
|
When you're flying on an airplane, you should be concerned more with physics than metaphysics. There are good reasons an airplane stays up--or not--and none of them involve angels pushing the wings.
BTW, Saudia Airlines takes care of all spiritual needs in advance (as long as you're a Muslim, that is). They blast a sinus-rattling "Allah akhbar" prayer over the cabin loudspeakers before takeoff.
I don't even like to be seated near demonstrative believers when I'm flying, and I don't care which branch of religious superstition they follow. Some of them panic and start jabbering prayers or rattling beads when they hear the "thump" of the damn landing gear retracting.
I swear, I'm going to start always traveling with one of the fascinating Air Disasters books in my bag. That's a trilogy of books covering major air disasters from the late Forties to the present.
With photos. LOTS of photos.
