God's wife edited out of the bible -- ALMOST |
|
God had a wife, Asherah, whom the Book of Kings suggests was worshiped alongside Yahweh in his temple in Israel, according to an Oxford scholar. < http://news.discovery.com/history/god-wife-yahweh-asherah-110318.html>

Amma
so the Aethiest died and when he woke up, he found himself at the Gates of Heaven being greeted by St. Peter. "What am I doing here? I don't believe in this." said the aethiest "Oh sweet man, we accept ALL souls. Come with me and I'll show you around. Here are the Hindus, here are the Buddhists and over here are your friends, the aethiests. There is only one rule in heaven that you need to know." "What would the rule that heaven has possibly be?" asked the aethist. St. Peter's eyes twinkled and he laughed, jiggling his belly a bit like Santa Claus, then said, "We do not talk to the souls behind the brick wall." "Why do we not talk to the souls behind the brick wall? who are they?" asked the aethiest, still incredulous that he was even there in the first place. St. Peter laughed raucously again then replied, "The Christians live behind the brick wall and think they are the only ones here."
=============== Remi Owolabi
Be careful when reading baseless, misleading and confusing article that can lead someone's soul to hell if belief is put into the article. Remember we are now at the latter day.

Many creation myths include a duality, extrapolation of which always produces male & female manifestations.

Jewish mysticism has long held that the divine has a feminine part or manifestation, called Shechinah. These attributes are especially manifest in the temple or acts of public prayer.

13. maybe Asherah is the "holy spirit" which would help with the whole trinity thing |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 10:22 AM by Motown_Johnny
this would put Yahweh as "God the Father"
Asherah as the Holy Spirit
and Jesus as the Son
and as a family unit they would be 3 in 1, a holy trinity
It also makes Mary more of a surrogate mom. Sounds like Jesus was Asherah's son and Mary just brought him to term. No wonder he never looks Middle Eastern in any of the paintings. :sarcasm:
Not that I buy any of this, but people can rationalize almost anything so I allow myself to go with it.

20. In a nutshell, the facts: |
|
The religion of most people in ancient Israel was worship of Asherah. Asherah was the goddess of the women and common folk. There is a vast amount of evidence for this, perhaps a hundred times as many figurines of Asherah as any image of Yahweh.
Then came the Babylonian captivity. Somehow after the captivity the priests of Yahweh got the upper hand, the whip hand. Asherah went to the dung heap and women went into subjugation.
The Bible wasn't edited to write out Asherah so much as it was written from scratch without her, after the return from the Babylonian captivity. She joined the other defunct gods and goddesses of the Israelites, somewhere near the Golden Calf.
The Jews started out as polytheists, just like most other primitive people in the area, and rejected most of them one by one. It's in the book.
