"God is a concept, by which we measure our pain" - John Lennon |
|
I'm not sure I understand what this means, however
Anyone have a clue?

2. Well yeah, but I don't think this was a drug induced statement |
|
"I know what it's like to be dead" - now THERE'S a drug induced statement
This, however, means something - and I don't get it

3. Well now you're quoting Peter Fonda |
|
But to try to answer I think it means that we only care about god when we hurt. otherwise who needs him.

5. but the "she" in question was really Peter Fonda |
|
The Beatles and he did some acid and Fonda walked around saying, "I know what it's like to be dead." Supposedly the lads were not really amused but they got a neato song out of the experience.

6. That we invent Religion to comfort ourselves for the pain life gives us |
|
He was in his Janov phase, remember?
John said a lot of things that he believed, then later he didn't believe them and said something different.

10. Magical Misery Tour... |
|
This is an unrelentingly brutal parody of John Lennon, made all the more pointed due to the fact that the lyrics are Lennon's own words taken from an interview he granted to Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone in 1970.
The interview itself is legendary. At the time it was conducted, Lennon was still hopelessly trapped under the vast, oppressive shadow of The Beatles, and he was angry, whiney, and petulant.Listen to the song here: http://electronictiger.net/avail/tour.mp3 More background and lyrics here http://mog.com/fairportfan/blog/31422Paul said he hated Yoko! Tell me, why should Yoko have to take that kind of shit, Shit from those fucking sons of bitches? George said she gave off evil vibes, I shoulda beat the fucking shit right out of him, Him with his fucking hari krishnas.

13. For some lyrics that will really trip you out and make you think... |
|
Try just about anything from Tool. Some of my favorites are Parabola, Right in Two, The Grudge, Forty Six & 2, and Vicarious.
ALL of them would be very appropriate to discuss in R&T.
