Pope: Atheists cause global warming
Remember that spoof "Democrats Cause Cancer" Fox News ticker in The Simpsons? Yep, life imitates art once again.

"Is it not true that inconsiderate use of creation begins where God is marginalized or also where his existence is denied? If the human creature's relationship with the Creator weakens, matter is reduced to egoistic possession, man becomes the ‘final authority,’ and the objective of existence is reduced to a feverish race to possess the most possible."

I had to look it up to make sure it was real. Here you have it, from "pro" sources. Of course, you'll see this assholiness (heh) righteously eviscerated in any of your friendly neighborhood liberal and/or atheist blogs.

Me, I only have one thing to say: Genesis 1:28.

1. Maybe not allowing Catholics to use condoms should be considered as a cause.
That increased population of the earth, which caused us to need to use more energy, which caused global warming.

3. The Pope who ran a nest of pedophiles?
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 12:37 PM by CoffeeCat
Is this the same Pope who knowingly kept psychopathic sex predator priests
around vulnerable children--and then covered it up for years, lied about
the crimes and made it difficult for child rape victims to come forward?

Is that him?

Yeaaah. That person doesn't GET to have an opinion on ANYTHING.

Hey Pope person--that funny hat doesn't magically make us forget about
decades of creating child sex-crime victims.

4. The sad thing is the amount of deranged individuals who'll read that BS and say
"Yep, that makes sense."

I became aware of it now. Apparently, the same applies to lots of other posters.

11. I find recent things more interesting that two year old simplistic headlines.
Searching for a complete statement made two years at a Wednesday general papal audience is not high on my priorities.

13. If I had noticed the article date, maybe I wouldn't have posted this thread.
But, in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't notice it.

14. Credit where credit is due. That's why religious organizations meet
in modest buildings, cheaply constructed, and avoid accumulating wealth.

15. "...inconsiderate use of creation begins where God is marginalized..."
When I was in college, the people I knew who sneered openly at "tree huggers," as they called them, were devout Southern Baptists who went to church every Sunday. (That was 20 years ago, but I doubt they've changed much--if at all--since then.)
