How can these Republican legislators claim to be good Christians?
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+25%3A31-46&version=NIV

They have no trouble with quoting the Old Testament (wrongly) to suit their discrimination of gays, but how do they reconcile this passage with their inflicting pain and suffering on the poor, sick, children, and the elderly, in order for the rich to continue their abundant lifestyle. Where are the RICH CHRISTIANS, other than the Warren Buffets and Bill Gates, TELLING these legislators this?

Oh, well. Apparently, just BELIEVING is enough. They don't have to walk the walk.

1. It only counts on Sundays
Monday through Saturday they lie, cheat, and try to think of new ways to deprive those most in need...their true actions only strengthens my belief that the form of Christianity practiced by these hypocrites, isn't what Christ intended, in my opinion!

The funny thing is they probably go to church seeking atonement, without remembering that you have to be sincere!

2. My mom showed me a passage from the Bible my cousin gave her; she carries it everywhere
It's a small passage (don't know where exactly) which says something along the lines of "But if those poor and sick REFUSE TO WORK then no one need help them and good people can feel they are not obligated."

So I guess there's stuff in the small print which allows good Christians to spit in the faces of the poor WHO REFUSE TO WORK--and we know which ones those are, right? Right, anybody they say. They do the judging, not Jesus.

And my dear Mama carries it around in case anyone is shocked at her lack of charity--the Bible says she can refuse to help the poor and feel no guilt. Weird, since she is a kind and generous person who gives to the poor. I guess it's just in case she runs into someone who refuses to work.

7. Jesus said we should sell our possessions and give the money to the poor.
The Christians I know have lots of possessions.

God agrees with the believer's politics. If a Christian is for gay marriage, then God is for gay marriage; if a Christian is against gay marriage, then God is against gay marriage. Same for taxes, abortion, etc.

Less controversial stances are usually exceptions; e.g., stop sign placement.

about Gates/Buffet. I'll save you time - Soros and Kaiser aren't either. Of the top 5 philanthropists only one - Moore - may be a Christian and he's too private to say either way. As he is a computer scientist with an Ivy League education I'm not sure I'd bet that he is one either.

10. Why are you conflating government support and Christian ethics?
Those passages are directed to people to act with charity towards their fellow man (or women).

The concept of the civil government providing for a equitable society is largely a foreign concept.

11. They constantly remind me of the Pharisees...
They "look good" in public, make all of the right noises, and say flowery, pious words--but inwardly, their hearts are cold, and their righteousness is as dirty rags to a holy God.

I'm led to say there is no Christ in them.
