When you stifle the inner bigot.. And then it backfires spectacularly..
We are all bigots of one sort or another, among my many shortcomings is that I'm bigoted against people who make a show of their religion.

Sometimes your inner bigot is screaming "Don't trust this fucker." and you say "Shaddup ya' bigot." and then you trust them anyway.

I just poured my heart and soul into a project despite the fact that the owner has a symbol of his religion on his business website, I saw the website and the symbol before I made the decision to get involved.

Needless to say it did not end well, mostly due to extremely poor project management skills on the part of the website owner.

My inner bigot is now engaging in a hearty round of "Told ya' so, you ignorant dumb ass." and I'm not sure what to say in my defense, it's not like I fell off the turnip truck yesterday, you might say I'm experienced.

1. I avoid the Jesus fishes whenever I see them.
Any business that puts religion first over actual product/service delivered, isn't professional enough to deal with, IMHO.

2. Did you get paid for the work that you did on his project? If so, then you
have nothing to worry about. Move along after a small enjoyment of karmic justice!!

5. That's kind of my point, I didn't get what I had agreed to.
Despite the fact that I went way beyond the call of duty in order to attempt to rescue a project that was very nearly hopelessly behind schedule when I got involved. The reason I was involved is because the person couldn't find anyone else competent to do the job in the (already too short) time frame he wanted. The time frame was short because someone else had already screwed up my portion of the job and I was supposed to fix their screwups.

If everything had gone absolutely perfectly I would have been just barely able to accomplish my task in time by working nearly around the clock, like most major projects and completely predictably, things did not go perfectly. That's the kind of thing that is particularly likely when you are dealing with something that has already been fouled up to start with.

The person wanted all three of the points of the project triangle at the same time and when that didn't happen they decided it was my fault. They didn't need just "good" they needed visible perfection and they then expected everything to go perfectly with no allowance for error.

3. I don't think that was bigotry.
Sometimes in life people are good enough to give us little clues as to what they're all about. You can choose to accept the clue as an indication of the person's compatibility with yourself, or you can disregard it and take your chances due to some misplaced desire to be even-handed. But it looks like you've learned that now.:)

7. Often, maybe, but not always
The "gut" and the "heart" benefit hugely from revisionist history.

A decision turns out well: Initial worries and doubts tend to be forgotten.

A decision turns out poorly: Initial worries and doubts are recalled with a vengeance. These doubts are credited to the "gut" or the "heart", and somehow rational thinking gets turned into the villain who caused the trouble.

8. My guts are always right.
I tend to listen to my head, not my guts.
In fact, I wish my guts would yell louder at me, and I should pay more attention to those feelings.
