'God blogging' workshop spreads faith
What would Jesus blog?

Monday, October 17, 2005; Posted: 11:10 a.m. EDT (15:10 GMT)

<snip>Topics included God bloggers' relationship with the traditional church, their growing influence on mainstream politics and how to manage outsiders' perceptions.

<snip>Many bloggers are now writing about religious oppression, poverty and world hunger, instead of hot-button issues such as abortion, homosexuality and assisted suicide, said the Rev. Andrew Jackson, a seminary professor and pastor at the Word of Grace Church in Mesa, Arizona.

<snip>At one well-attended workshop -- "When Non-Christians Read Your Blog" -- Biola University professor Timothy Muehlhoff gave instructions on writing about faith without alienating nonbelievers.

<snip>Jackson, who blogs at smartchristian.com, said he wasn't as sure what long-term influence blogging would have on evangelical Christians -- but he knew it would be important.<snip>

1. I wish I understood
Why they never seem to write about the Beatitudes? But it does seem that, in open forums, they are moving that way.

Have you ever noticed that the "Thou shalt not..." Christians are not as much fun as the "Blessed are the..." Christians? Or is that just my prejudice showing through?

2. I also like the positive - the Beatitudes - and enjoy reading about them
But I try to read as much as possible - perhaps too quickly tossing those sites that try to sell me on "I'm correct and the rest of the world is wrong"

Indeed DU Religion Forum is becoming a site where atheist's try to sell "I'm correct and the rest of the world is wrong", so I try to avoid it.

But I love the Beatitudes - indeed I love the calm logic and beautiful thought in all of Jesus's words.
