Ian Paisley is more insane than I thought
His website reads like the ravings of a delusional paranoid. And to think this man stands a chance of running Northern Ireland's government. Now I don't feel so bad the negotiations to get the government back again failed.

Catholics will probably be offended by his message, I'm afraid.

The Institute's purpose is to expound the Bible, expose the Papacy, and to promote, defend and maintain Bible Protestantism in Europe and further afield.

It will assist all who are engaged in the struggle against the Papacy in both the religious and the secular worlds; provide courses suitable to all ages in the controversy with Rome; and supply information on all aspects of the Papacy today.

Check out his theory on seat 666 in the European Parliament!

As far as I can tell, the site is perfectly genuine.

1. He tells the fools on his side in Ulster that if there is ever
reunification with Eire, all the Protestant churches will be sacked and burned, and worse. Yes, he's just this crazy, just like our brand of religious wack job who blamed 9/11 on feminists and the ACLU.

He's made a great career out of scaring the descendants of the Scots Protestants who colonized the northeastern tip of Ireland centuries ago by telling them outrageous lies about their neighbors. That he conveniently forgets what his bunch started only because the hated Papacy wouldn't give Henry VIII a convenient divorce doesn't seem to detract from his message of how evil they are and how righteous he is.

Bush adores him, by the way.

2. I did some research about him last year
He is nuts. It's a shame he's in control of the Northern Irish Parliament.

6. May be apocryphal - I think not.
Back in the sixties, Paisley led a protest march to stop the papist takeover of his part of Belfast. The reason for all this? An Italian family had opened an ice cream parlour there.

7. If Paisley is genuine in his expounding of the Bible
then I fail to see why he feels the need to constantly portray other Christians as in league with Satan.

Ian Paisley represents the exact sort of sectarian bigotry we Christans need to distance ourselves from as much as possible. We need to recognize that first and foremost we are Christians, not members of a particular denomination.
