Going To The Dogs

I was talking with my dogs the other day about "intelligent design." Sadie, the 12-year old German shepherd, said she believes in it. After all these years, she has still not figured out automobiles and thinks they must be the work of a higher authority. I explained that I had a similar experience with college calculus.

Casey, the Border collie mixed breed, needed more explanation: "Well, calculus is higher mathematics." I then realized that for the dogs there is only "1" and "more than 1." Example: 1 squirrel and too many squirrels.

Anyway, calculus was too difficult for me to comprehend, so it must have been the "intelligent design" of a higher being. But the college professor (whom I would later learn was the higher authority) would have none of that. I did not pass calculus.

So, for my four-legged friends, there is no doubt of the "existence of dog." However, I still have my issues.
