Southern Baptists are getting into the ad game.
Notice that CNN would not accept the ad from the United Church of Christ showing that it was a welcoming, affirming, inclusive church.

Bearing that in mind, I'm checking this story out:
http://www.talk2action.org/story/2006/1/4/113420/9624 .

I support churches and church organizations who are welcoming, affirming and inclusive, such as the United Church of Christ ( www.ucc.org ), the Unitarian-Universalists ( www.uua.org ), Unity, the Church of Religious Science, etc. This really irks me.

A DUer had mentioned this earlier, and I had said that I thought it was the Southern Baptists who were making this effort, but I couldn't find the link. Well, here it is.

1. So ABC is going to run the ads?
And yet they refused to run the UCC ads because they allegedly "don't do religious ads". What hypocrites.

Other stations refused to run the UCC ads claiming that their promotion of being an "inclusive" church hinted that other churches were exclusive towards others, and that the other churches might therefore be offended. BFD!!! If the truth hurts and the other churches get offended let them come up with their own ads. Networks never seem to mind if gays, women and others get offended by Falwell, et.al. spewing their filth so why do they worry about a church offending the reich wingers? Why is it always about offending the reich wingers?

2. I think it is the same network that refused to run the UCC ads ..

that is running these; but, I am going to check. I'm going to be emailing someone about this!

Yes, they are hypocrites, or serving their corporate masters, or both.

Jerks.

3. Another good question.
The Amerikkkan Taliban haven't exactly kept their list of requirements to get into heaven secret, now have they?

They happily doom us to hell all week long, not just on Sundays anymore.

4. The reich-wing may currently be the biggest most vocal bunch
(e.g. the biggest, most organized bunch of whiners) But perhaps the rest of us need to break the silence. They have everyone pandering to them now because of their persistence, but we can change that. From now on when tv shows, ads and the like get pulled I'm going to be sending e-mails telling them why I disagree with their decision. If there is something I like I'm going to be sending e-mails of praise to offset the whiney e-mails they get from the reich-wing. I will no longer stand for censorship in the name of pandering to people who are to simplistic to simply change the channel. People who probably weren't going to watch that channel in the first place anyway, but just wanted to make a fuss in order to feel important.

5. I think it's going to take more than us.
The liberal xians have to start speaking up too.

Atheists and other non-xians have been fighting them for a long time on our own.

The religious left had better realize they're not going to be any better off than we are in a theocracy.

6. I think they are finally beginning to wake up
Though how ready for action they are I'm not sure. Many of them still seem to think god is going to bail them out of this mess. They need to realize that they need to take action, because only they can fix this effed up situation that the fundies have created. It was people who started this ball rolling, and it needs to be people to halt and reverse it. Praying and hoping will do nothing.

7. Right.
And they outnumber us not just in population, but in the marketplace.

Liberal xians need to put their money where their mouths are and start playing offense, not just defense.

Most corporations are going to cater to the majority because that's where their best interests lie, in the pocketbooks of their customers.

8. Indeed
And if the liberal xians don't speak out as the reich wingers are, the corporations are going to continue thinking that the reich wingers speak for all of Christianity. And we we know very well they don't.
