Is the Kingpriest from DragonLance representive of the religious right? |
|
Because in the dragonlance books he declared istar to be the moral center of the world, and that's almost like what christians are trying to do.

The Religious Right is a fraud. The people in charge do not believe in what they are saying; they are mere profiteers. The Kingpriest was never a fraud. He believed sincerely in what he was doing, and that it was the best for the world. The problem was that he was arrogant. His version was the only correct version, his goodness was the only "right" goodness, his path was the only path that could be taken. Righteousness became self-righteousness, zeal became paranoia, and good intentions ended up causing immense evil.
Weis and Hickman play on the same theme in the Death Gate Cycle, regarding the Sartan and their bent upon world domination, but "benevolent" world domination.
