5. Put the Christ back in Christianity.
I think we need to remove ALL parts of the Christian bible except Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

19. Well....
There is the Jefferson Bible. Jefferson took out what he called supernatural and left what was consistant with all 4 gospels from the Bible about Jesus. I haven't read it yet but it sounds interesting.

8. Because somebody has to use all those big buildings for something
What do you want to do, leave them empty so the homeless can move into them?

10. I once heard that two missionaries had argued ...
... for a whole afternoon regarding the appropriate disposal of left-over Eucharist; reaching no resolution, they finally stepped outside where they found a man had died of hunger during their theological discussion.

14. Great idea!
Vaulted ceilings, plenty of space, prime real estate. It's about time churches actually served some real purpose...

16. Those benches are too hard to sleep on
And the darned places echo.

No, best to leave them as churches. They are best suited for business ventures. We make bridge overpasses and culverts for sleeping.

6. Dropping attempts to support the building of a "Third Temple"
Their beliefs are 'bonkers' but they control Bush's foreign policy http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/comment/story/0,14259,1204684,00.html

Please stop supporting the return of the antichrist, who must sit in a Third Temple according to dispensationalists interpretation of prophesy. Read Grace Halsells' book "Forcing God's Hand" and Gary Burges' article on Christian Zionism along with PBS's article on the millennium and the Third Temple and you will see what I mean.

Grace Halsell's book "Forcing God's Hand" and other sites like PBS's at http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/week319/cover...
and Gary Burge's excellent article at
http://www.hcef.org/hcef/index.cfm/ID/159
spell it all out fairly well, much better than me. These "Left Behind" scenarios play on this too well.

7. Isn't that last choice what they do anyway?
You know, they give away everything they own to the poor. But, since they plan to give away everything, that would make them poor, so they just give it to themselves.

15. Christianity and TV do not mix!
Christ taught his followers to pray in private, do good deeds in secret so that God, not others, will see them, love justice, practice kindness, walk humbly with God, etc. I don't any of that on television; in fact, just by being seen on such a medium with an unavoidable "look-at-me" format, it is impossible to be geniune!

12. Start walking the walk.
Christianity is grounded in humility and service, in love and peace and justice. It does not need any promotion or defence. If those who profess it so loudly would just shut up and follow the teachings they so conveniently ignore, everything would be just fine, and the world would be a much better place for everyone, Christian and non-Christian alike.

18. Who are you trying to promote it to?
Are you trying to get other Christians to act more Christian?

Are you trying to convince us skeptics and atheists? (ask Jesus to put in another appearance and provide some evidence like he did for Thomas, that might convince some of us).

Are you trying to convert individuals of other beliefs?

20. None of the above will promote it.
Let's face it...if we give everything to the poor and argue for peace, we're always going to be looked at as crazy. Still, it's the right thing to do, so we do it.

But if Christianity were ever to become the cool thing to do, or become entrenched in government...it's just not Christianity anymore. That's the problem that the Romans faced, and it is the problem that America faces now. We have an official Christianity that isn't actually Christianity at all.
