1. If it is, and some people KNOW it is, then THAT'S why athletes are
using all those steroids!

And also about the spaceships flying around my neighborhood...

2. Gee you'd think
that if all those prophecies hadn't come true...there might be a problem with either the prophet or the believers.

3. The end of the world might be on its way, but...
I doubt the rapture's coming with it.

4. Such prophesies have been going strong at least since
Jesus asserted that "this generation" would not die until he returned again. In the some two thousand years since, the hysteria comes and goes.

Personally, I think the Revelation of St. John was a first hand account, not a prophesy, and that the End Of The World took place as predicted, on time and under budget. We are the descendants of those left behind, which would certainly explain quite a bit of human history and the modern world.

5. Thanks for posting that
the sheer magnitude of them is comforting, given the fact that we are still here.

22. Man has been predicting the end of the world since the beginning of it.
Too date he has been 100% wrong.

6. Today it becomes self-fulfilling prophecy.
The world didn't end at the stroke of midnight when the new millenium started. So now those who want to see it happen have the means to MAKE it happen.

7. The Rapture and the End of the World are two different beliefs
Take a look at the prophecies in Revelations and think of the news for the past two decades and matching closer everyday but the way in is the way out and the end of the world and "Time Must Have A Stop" by Aldous Huxley taken from the Book of Revelations - Time stops and the angels take away the moon and sun because they are not needed any more - the light comes from God and His Lamb and Genesis speaks of the sun and moon being created for "Times and Seasons".

Please don't comment until you have read at least the short version of the SIGNS OF THE TIMES for the end of this world and the beginning of the New Heaven and New Earth (The Heavenly Jerusalem - City of Peace - Shalom) by Jesus in the Books of Luke and Matthew and THEN give an opinion.

Mar 13:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?

And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am ; and shall deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for must needs be; but the end not yet.

Mar 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in diverse places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these the beginnings of sorrows. (Tumults in the sea - Tsunamis, El Nino, Global warming in Mat 24 Luke 21 - famines and diseases such have never been on the earth - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - WAR, DEATH (many forms - drive-by shootings), FAMINE, PLAGUE )

Mar 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Mar 13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. (watch TV and compare events to the prophecies in just these relatively short passages)
The Book of Revelations have passages of someone unacquainted with modern warfare and nuclear war describing it with the metaphors available - giant insects with mens faces inside - war heliocopters - even without reading Hal Lindsey (disagree with him on his politics mightily) or any interpretation you can see that fire coming down from the heavens and destroying one-third of the population and the fire that comes down from heaven poisons the waters on the earth and the survivors take months to die from the wormwood poisoned waters and they die in agony, nuclear winter with the sun being darkened - it is scary and I try to think of Jesus saying that the days will be shortened for the elects sake and that the end is also the beginning which the religous Jews and Muslims, yogis and New Agers who have investigated many religions also believe - maybe you should look into the prophecies not everyone who believes them is conservative fundamentalist)

10. People in the know about such things ...
... trust the Rapture Index to make sure they are ready for the Rapture:

http://www.raptureready.com/rap2.html

(And, sadly, this is NOT a parody site)

FYI - The current Rapture Index has been increased to 156!

The Purpose For This Index
The Rapture Index has two functions: one is to factor together a number of related end time components into a cohesive indicator, and the other is to standardize those components to eliminate the wide variance that currently exists with prophecy reporting.

The Rapture Index is by no means meant to predict the rapture, however, the index is designed to measure the type of activity that could act as a precursor to the rapture.

You could say the Rapture index is a Dow Jones Industrial Average of end time activity, but I think it would be better if you viewed it as prophetic speedometer. The higher the number, the faster we're moving towards the occurrence of pre-tribulation rapture.

Rapture Index of 85 and Below: Slow prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 85 to 110: Moderate prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 110 to 145: Heavy prophetic activity
Rapture Index above 145: Fasten your seat belts

14. Revelations Predicting End of Israelite Rebellion?
I heard once that the prophecies in Revelations predicted not the end of the world, but the Roman subjugation of the Israelites in 72 B.C.E., when the Temple was destroyed, the siege at Masada, and the Jewish Diaspora.

15. Sure the end of the world is coming
At some point. The thing to keep in mind about end of time prophesies is that man has been predicting the end of times since the beginning of time. To date he has been 100% wrong.

16. Rapture
Toe to toe
Dancing very slow
Barely breathing
Almost comatose
Wall to wall
People hypnotised
And they're stepping lightly
Hang each night in Rapture

Back to back
Sacrailiac
Spineless movement
And a wild attack

Face to face
Sadly solitude
And it's finger popping
Twenty-four hour shopping in Rapture

Fab Five Freddie told me everybody's high
DJ's spinnin' are savin' my mind
Flash is fast, Flash is cool
Francois sez fas, Flashe' no do
And you don't stop, sure shot
Go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car and you drive real far
And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and lands on the ground
And out comes a man from Mars
And you try to run but he's got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you're in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin' cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercurys and Subarus
And you don't stop, you keep on eatin' cars
Then, when there's no more cars
You go out at night and eat up bars where the people meet
Face to face, dance cheek to cheek
One to one, man to man
Dance toe to toe
Don't move to slow, 'cause the man from Mars
Is through with cars, he's eatin' bars
Yeah, wall to wall, door to door, hall to hall
He's gonna eat 'em all
Rapture, be pure
Take a tour, through the sewer
Don't strain your brain, paint a train
You'll be singin' in the rain
I said don't stop, do punk rock

Well now you see what you wanna be
Just have your party on TV
'Cause the man from Mars won't eat up bars when the TV's on
And now he's gone back up to space
Where he won't have a hassle with the human race
And you hip-hop, and you don't stop
Just blast off, sure shot
'Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin' cars and eatin' bars
And now he only eats guitars, get up!

17. I have a theory about the rapture
During drunken conversation one night, my friend and I determined that the rapture took place already, but not enough people went so no one noticed.

20. I have to agree with others here
If doomsday comes it is MIHOP courtesy of the bush cabal. The only other thing I can think would be a huge natural disaster or no more oil. Then maybe so.

Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 02:02 AM by Solon
The oceans will boil away and the Earth engulfed in flame.

I can give the precise date if you wish, it will be October 21, at 4:20 pm, in the year 4,500,000,042 A.D. BTW, just an FYI, that would be a Tuesday, mark your calendars!
