14. It's not per se a contradiction as much as a lot of it is a paradox. |
|
But then again, that's what makes it interesting. :)

This only makes a difference to those denominations or sects that believe in Biblical inerrancy. Which, I would estimate, make up less than 10% of all Christians worldwide.
For the rest of us, it's as meaningless as claiming that, because it can't absolutely be determined that light is either entirely a wave or entirley a particle, therefore science must be false. :eyes:

these preachers of false gospel claim.
The truths of the Bible are, and the Bible speaks in, metaphors, not easily discernible at first glance.* In fact there are passages of the Bible that say those who follow a false gospel (or don't follow the true Gospel) cannot understand the true meaning of the Bible's metaphors.

4. Cain's inlaws were Adam and Eve. |
|
According to the Bible, they were the only parents around, if you take it all literally.

16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Same parents? There's no mention before.

24. Don't forget Adam's first wife, Lilith! |
|
Boy was SHE pissed to get kicked out of Eden, look at Genesis chapter 1:1 for a mention of her. Everyone glosses over the fact that in that version of the story, the First Man and Woman were made at the SAME TIME!

Seriously, My point was this: Anyone, obviously including nutjobs can claim inspiration from the almighty. That fact alone should be caution enough to not believe every word in the scriptures as literally true. O8)

20. Who was the next woman after Eve? |
|
And with whom did she conceive her children with? Was it Adam her father; Or with her brother Cain or Able? All's I know is that when I was in parochial school I got my head slammed with book for suggesting that there had to have been some incestual relations occurring somewhere up in the family tree.

27. If I ever read a biology book with more than a couple of |
|
mistakes or contradictions, I decide that the book is a badly written waste of my time. TWO factual mistakes and its toast.
I've read the bible. There were about a billion factual mistakes in the first chapter alone! The history is wrong, the facts in it are wrong, the jesus "lesson" stuff I learned in kindergarten WITHOUT the bible, and the rest of it are outdated "moral" lessons. I mean, its not even that written that well..no where near the poetry in Shakespeare. I therefore deem it a waste of time. I don't see what people possible get from it that they can't from somewhere else.
