As far as I'm concerned, I, a believer, am united with both other believes and non-believers in the battle against the influence of the Hardcore Religious Right. I believe the critical first step is educating ourselves (progressives) about "who's who" in the Religious Hardright. "The Arlington Group" is a notorious religious right organization that is modeled after the even more infamous "Council for National Policy."
Look who's a member of the Arlington Group, a group whose members get more time with Senators and Congressman (and the Whitehouse) than the vast majority of interested parties:

Largely as a result, Blackwell today is the Republican nominee for Ohio governor. He also is a national political figure and a member of the Arlington Group, a by-invitation-only powerhouse organization whose roughly 60 members have direct access to the White House.

The Arlington Group's co-founders are Wildmon and Paul Weyrich, chairman of the Free Congress Foundation, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. A coordinating committee, it has no formal business structure; its meetings are private and members are prohibited from releasing a membership list, although many have talked openly about their membership.

Paul Weyrich has been scheming for at least three decades to swing the country rightward; if you read his history, you will find that he was the one behind the scheme to turn church members into an unrelenting machine for the Hardright (and hence the Republicans). Some preliminary information on him can be found at www.pfaw.org (People for the American Way).
