"Going Beyond God"
Edited on Tue May-30-06 05:20 PM by silverweb
A wonderful interview with Karen Thompson. Among other things, she addresses one of my favorite themes, which is the underlying universality of all religion.

1. Mystics have this concept
I have found whenever I start talking to other mystics, our particular spiritual paths don't make a bit of difference-they are merely points of interest, like where you are from or what you like to eat.

2. Gods are like masks
The unknowable unameable consiousness spirit beyond spirit that is not of this world uses to interface with me,a person stuck in this world filtering my perceptions through a material body..It usually dresses up as Sekhmet to connect to me.It chooses the archetypes that speak to me the most to speak to my spirit.

3. Cool Post
I've often thought that God, or the deity, has expressed itself in all cultures through what was familiar to them, or in a way they would understand.

5. Yes!
I've used almost exactly those words when describing my thoughts.

4. Armstrong, not Thompson
I'll read it after work - I'm always interested in what she has to say. Thanks!

6. Oops!
Thanks for the correction!

That's what I get for multitasking. I'd fix it now, but the editing period has expired.

7. That's OK :-)
I think most folks who are interested in the topic know her name anyway. I read the interview (actually, I've been reading many of her recent interviews as she hits the media blitz for the new book); as always, she is concise when she speaks and replies thoughtfully. I'm looking forward to my turn at her book at the library :-)
