30 Days: Atheist and Christian |
|
Any thoughts from the crowd?
I thought it was a pretty good episode. Of course there was not "dark sided," but you can't have that all the time, I guess.
What struck me most, is that the entire episode seemed like anyone of a million conversations in here. Same old arguments from both sides. I wonder what the general population thinks being exposed to those arguments.

2. An episode of 30 Days on FX by Spurlock |
|
Each episode has someone spend 30 days in a situation foreign to them (similar to Supersize Me where Spurlock ate only McDonalds for 30 days). Today's episode was an atheist living with a Christian family for 30 days.

I would rather have my living heart ripped from my chest than go through that again.

3. Probably preaching (so to speak) to the choir |
|
The people who watch 30 days are probably DU'ers. But, hopefully, the message is reaching other folks who tune in to watch a specific topic and stay for the ride.
I love the show, but we're watching the one from last week tonight and recording tonight's for later....sounds wonderful though, can't wait!

4. I was specifically told I could keep my stapler |

It was a good episode this week, though, on the whole, I don't think this season is quite as good as last season. Can't put my finger on it and verbalize it, but something is a little off.

5. I'd never seen the show before. |

I wasn't sure what was going to happen early on. I thought that, perhaps, it might wind up like the in/famous trading spouses episode. On the whole I thought it was very good. Tracey (the christian wife) gave me hope for unwashed atheists like myself, because she showed some compassion and didn't really feel it was her duty to "save" Brenda. She just thought that they believed different things but they could still find common ground elsewhere. The husband (Michael, I think) was somewhat less open-minded than his wife. One of the things that he said that struck me as completely hypocritical was when he was confessing to the camera that he thought it was "heart breaking" that Brenda and her husband taught the kids about atheism and wished that they would let them make up their own minds. I'm sure that's what he did with his kids.
