What if we are all one big "Truman Show"?

Imagine at birth you were taken away by someone and put in a large box. The box is impenetrable. It has all the necessities of life - Food, water, shelter, everything.

You grow up and spend your entire life living in the box. The box is all you know. It is impossible for you to ever know what is outside the box, who or what put you in the box, who built the box, where the box came from....

The person who took you at birth and put you in the box is just a normal, everyday person just like all of us. Yet, to you, this person would be "God". To you, whoever put you where you are and created what you see around you is a supreme being that knows all. To us, it's just a crazy guy who stole a baby and put it in a box and left it there, never to be disturbed. Maybe he thew the box into outer space and lost it forever.

What if that's what the universe is? What if we're all just put into some box made by some being that really doesn't have any special "powers"? What if the being was just conducting a forgotten experiment? Maybe the entire universe is the size of a bacterium to this being. Maybe after creating it, he (she?) simply lost it and now we simply exist, moving on without disturbance for all of time?

Perhaps "God" really isn't a super powerful being. Maybe he's just a regular joe who made us and lost us.
