Wanna see why allowing fans to vote for the MLB All Star game is a complete joke?
Edited on Tue Jul-07-09 11:26 AM by trumad
What's amazing is the cheater (A San Fran Giant fan who is comfortable with cheating)proudly announces it, and his sidekick, another Giant fan also comfortable with cheating gives him an atta-boy.

Oh I know--- the two of them will chime in with an "everyone else does it excuse"--- maybe----but those who do at least aren't arrogant enough to announce it to the world.

Cheating is cheating and these two dimwits simply don't give a shit about it.

1. How is it cheating? There's no limit on the number of times a fan
can vote for the final spot.

This kind of reckless legal presentation is precisely why the government lost their case v. Bonds.

3. Horseshit---the limit is 25 which is a joke itself.
It's ballot stuffing and that is cheating.

4. He's seems to be implying Barry Bonds stuffed the ballot box.
Well, he is referring to a well known cheater.

mim shakes his head at the stupidity emanating from that post.

5. You're wrong again
the limit is 25 in the original voting but in the final vote you can vote as many times as you like.

Geez trumad, you should check these things out before making a fool of yourself.

20. I thought the reason the government lost the case
was because Bonds wasn't a steroid junkie.

Guess I was wrong.

22. Of course it's the reason they lost. But they also made legal mistakes
that prevented them from even introducing their phony evidence.

Losers.

2. I remember doing that with the old paper ballots when I was 11.

Guess there must be a couple of 11 year olds on DU. Who knew. I'm sure they learned the trick from Rupert Murdoch.

Oh well.

MLB did..and in the final vote you can vote as many times as you want

trumad is one thing but I would think you would know better.

On Edit: the only relevance to Rupert Murdoch here is you believing false information...just like some RW fool believing everything Faux News shells out.

7. Yes, but you are unfairly taken advantage of the rules.
You would think on a democratic board, you would respect democratic values.

Nevermind, you two have more of a repuke mentality.

vote up to 24 more times for the regular spots.

And again there's no maximum number of time you can vote for Pablo Sandoval.

I hope to be at triple figures by this afternoon.

11. That's ridiculous
Everybody and anybody is aware you are allowed to vote as many time as you can punch in the validation code. MLB advocates it as do the respective teams and announcers of the candidates participating in the final vote.

First you claim you can't vote more than once, then you changed it to 25..now seeing that you've made a fool of yourself you've resorted to insults.

13. Actually, the edited comment
fits you to a tee. As someone who "claims" to be a sports fan, you should be aware of the rules regarding the All Star voting. Instead you take trumad's word as gospel...how pathetic.

18. Ballot stuffing is illegal
but in the case of MLB's Final Vote they allow, in fact encourage you, to vote as many times as possible. I'm up to well over 100 for Pablo now.....

friends to vote for Pablo as many times as possible.

21. They have it in the NHL
Overall I think the fans tend to get it right. Of course, there is always a few guys that get in based on past reputations and such. MLB has a few of those each year.

The NHL last year you could see why the system is completely fucked. The starting roster for the East was absolutely flooded with Habs that really didn't deserve to be there. But that's the nature of the beast. Overall, the All Star games in the major sports exists for the fans.

The unfortunate thing is that a lot of it based on trends. HRs are exciting in baseball so you could get to the break batting .260, have a low fielding percentage, and have 25 HRs to get you on the team.

OTOH; A sport like hockey is so much more than just goal scoring alone. There's a lot of work done by the those third and fourth liners to make it possible for your first and second liners to score goals. I always found those guys the most underappreciated in all of sports.
