1. We already know East Coast and anti Giant bias exists
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 08:50 PM by Upton
we see it all the time in this forum. Of course they have no idea what they're talking about because they never watch the Giants, they just believe whatever ESPN tells them... and I equate ESPN and the Giants haters to Faux News and the Republicans.

5. Yep...
this poll is just BS...just like the MLB Final Vote.

First Pablo was robbed and now ESPN is trying to convince us Lincecum isn't the best pitcher in baseball.

3. I can understand why Kansas voted the way they did
Can't understand why Wisconsin is the only one west of the 4 corners that voted for Lincecum.

4. Man, there are sure a lot of Canadians east of the Rockies.
But then, Roy is from Denver. It could show the tremendous influence that Denver has on baseball.

Of course, cboy is such a narcissist that he'll take that as a good thing.

7. Halladay is a proven Hall of Famer will multiple years under his belt.
Once again your insecurity rears it's ugly, childish head, and the real bias is your own. Be realistic (if you're capable, a dubious proposition, I know). Halladay is one of the best pitchers in the last decade. Lincecum has all of a half a season to point to. Hmmm, would I choose a proven veteran with a career record of 141 wins, 69 losses, and an e.r.a. of 3.47, or do I choose a rookie who has played half a season? Only an idiot (like you) would pick Lincecum in this situation, and what you totally miss in your baby like tantrum over this is that Lincecum getting 40% in this poll is awesome for him, and reflects on the impact he's already made.

I really wish you would pass puberty.

11. I won't disagree with you on Hallady being a great pitcher
but you're way off on Lincecum. He's much more than "a rookie who has played half a season" ..this is his third year in MLB, remember Tim won the NL Cy Young Award last year. So far for his career, he's 35-12 with an ERA 0f 2.95.

I don't blame you for preferring Halladay but it would be nice if you at least knew a little something about Lincecum before making your argument.

12. Even taking my mistake into account, Halladay is the correct choice.
Edited on Sat Jul-11-09 09:40 AM by Forkboy
Sorry, I really did think he was a rookie. Don't follow the N.L. that closely (though I like the fact that they actually bunt in the N.L.). But Halladay is the correct choice, and charges of East Coast bias over this are ridiculous to the extreme. You even just admitted that you don't blame me for picking Halladay, so why blame all the others. As I said, Halladay has long time proven record. Even with the added info you provided Lincecum still measure up in this instance. That's not a knock on Lincecum at all. He could very well end up being as good or better than Halladay, but as of right now he isn't. I'd pick Halladay over almost anyone, to be honest.

13. LOL--Its that all creeping East Coast PRO-CANADA bias
Cause we know that us northeasterners love all things Canadian. Yeah. Thats it.
Halladay is the PROVEN winner. And frankly its taken a hell of a lot longer for him to be noticed BECAUSE he is Canadian.
If Lincecum were pitching in Toronto, he'd have ZIP votes.

14. Yea the reason he's noticed back there is all of the big spending East Coast
teams are trying to figure out a way of screwing Toronto into giving him up.

And listen to the Nationals fan trying to explain to me about all things winning.

15. Toronto is looking to trade him.
They even said they'd be willing to trade him within the division. Doesn't sound like any one has to screw them over to get him, does it?

"Jays are serious about Halladay trade, but it'll take a haul"

The Jays will want one MLB-ready position player, one top pitching prospect who'll be ready by next year and at least a third top-of-the-line prospect, one competing executive said he heard. Whatever the requirements, the package will have to be huge in terms of talent, everyone agrees.
--
One early favorite could be the Phillies, who have the wherewithal and need, and also reside in the right league. Plus they possess a decent group of prospects and young players, including outfielders Dominic Brown, Michael Taylor and John Mayberry Jr., pitchers J.A. Happ, Carlos Carrasco, Antonio Bastardo and Kyle Drabek, catcher Lou Marson and shortstop Jason Donald. While Donald doesn't rank as the best shortstop prospect in the game, the Jays did seek him in a trade last year, dangling pitcher Brian Tallet and slugger Matt Stairs.

Philly is a much more intense place than Toronto, but the acquaintance said he thought that Halladay, who hails from Colorado and lives in quiet Dunedin on the West Coast of Florida, wouldn't shy away from big East Coast markets such as Philly, Boston and New York. "He's shy and reserved and doesn't love the limelight, but he might accept for a chance to win,'' that person said.
--
Just about every contending team will check in, and MLB.com suggested that at least 12 already have, identifying the "most serious'' as the Cardinals, Yankees, Mets, Brewers, Dodgers, Angels and Red Sox. Whoever gets him, it'll take a haul, as Halladay, 10-2 with a 2.79 ERA, is considered by many to be baseball's top pitcher. In fact, one executive with an interested team didn't hide that opinion Tuesday: "He's the best.''

Sounds like your own bias against the East Coast showing up again.

We are now meeting this Thursday at 10:30 am. We're having a special guest give a presentation on how to screw over Pablo Sandoval.

Just make a note of it in your calendars.
