2. It's close enough
I wanted to be able to vote in this poll and see how east coast bias influences it.

5. There's also an anti Giants bias out there
one must take that into consideration when reviewing the results of the poll.

7. My pick had nothing to do with not liking the Giants, The Dodgers are the best, that's all.
I actually like the Giants, and all SF teams.

Why are you two so incredibly insecure?

10. I'll consider that
Not only is there an East Coast bias, there is an anti-Giants bias as well. It must be tough to deal with such a double whammy.

15. lol
I used to believe in an east coast bias, in college football. Mostly due to poll rankings but the AP redeemed themselves with USC and Utah will probably have a high preseason ranking. As far as professional sports, not so much but considering the majority of the population lives east of the Mississippi and everyone has inhererit biases I can consider it. However an anti-Giants bias is taking it over the top. As a Rockies fan I probably have an anti-Giants bias.

Edited on Mon Jul-13-09 02:21 PM by JonLP24
From the front porch you can see the sea!

Relax it is on the western side of the US. I'm sure when those talk about East Coast bias are only talking about people 20 miles or less from the Atlantic Ocean. :eyes:

Who has a better record in the N.L.?

I'll wait.

Only a hardcore homer would think his team, 7 games back, is better.

11. All I know is we throw a shut-out practically every other night
and we're scoring lots of runs.

The Dodgers are still riding high off of all of their early season wins against the lowly Diamondbacks.

12. I would put the Giants 2nd or 3rd. Why take it as an insult?
You should be thrilled people are taking them seriously. Honestly, did even YOU think they would be where they are right now?

Like I asked Upton, why are you two so incredibly insecure over your teams?

14. Yes, we both thought the Giants could be where they are right now.
I'm only surprised our offense is performing better than anticipated.

The reason you are surprised is because you don't know anything about my team.

18. We're not surprised about the same things.
There's a major difference between being surprised about one aspect of performance and being surprised about over all performance, which is what you are.

30. The Dodgers have the best record in MLB
So why would anyone say that any other team is better than they are? Oh wait, team bias, like Ron Santo has towards his team. Giants are good, but not as good as the Dodgers.

35. Standings are what counts but at this point in the season doesn't determine who is the best
2007 Rockies win 14 of their last 15 games make the playoffs and go to the World Series. Not only that they were 44-44 at the All Star break and ended up being the best team on the Western Side of the US so you can't just simply look at the Standings now at this point in the season and say they are the best.

38. I have no idea what you mean

Basically as history indicates half the teams on this poll can turn it around and make it to the WS. Not so sure about Padres, DBacks, etc.

Whatever did I say that was such BS?

37. Lets look at some numbers
Since May 24th..

Giants..29-16

Rockies..29-16

Dodgers..26-17

Over a period of the last 6 weeks, approximately 1/4 of the season, the best teams in the NL have been the Giants and Rockies, not the Dodgers.

39. Thanks for the numbers
I tried to make a similar point in post #35. Current standings does not mean the Dodgers are the best team. Half the teams on the list can get hot and eventually become the best.
