Pedro Martinez agrees to one-year deal with Phillies

Reporting from St. Louis -- Pedro Martinez is returning to the major leagues.

Martinez has agreed to a one-year, $1-million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, a person familiar with the negotiations said Tuesday night.

I thought the only reason they signed him was because he was already in game-ready shape. Oh well. NOt my money

2. I hope they only want 5-6 good games from him....

...even in his prime Pedro never lasted a full season...always out for fairly long lengths of time with injuries, and now at 37 you never know. He can still pitch well but his body breaks down easily.
