Time for the Mets to concede the race
There's no way at this point Betran, Reyes and Delgado are gonna come back and hoist this team back. The damage has been done and Omar Minaya, with his poor evaluation skills, has fucked up big time asuring everyone this team could hang in till those guys came back. Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel should be handed their walking papers out of New York YESTERDAY.

As far as Manuel is concerned, his game decisions and comments has me wondering if he wants to get fired anyways. There's a rumor going around that he mentioned using Livan Hernandez at first or third and possibly as a PH. This guy needs to go.

Right now this is a good opportunity for the Mets to call up Neisse, who's pitching lights out baseball in the minors, and give him another shot up here.

Use Joe Murphy at third, his natural position, and give Wright some days off.

Trade Castillo to get out of that terrible contract. He's having a decent year and the Mets need a long term solution at second base. This guy is not the answer.

Trade Sheffeild for some prospects. Hopefully get a young catcher with some upside so we don't have to watch Brian Schneider anymore.

1. Might not be a bad idea to get rid of Wright too
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 05:04 PM by Upton
you know, while he's still worth something. Right now, he's living off the past and excuses, examples of which you've provided to us all here day after day.

However, if Wright's power numbers continue to dwindle, little Davey will no longer be thought of as an upper echelon third baseman, if indeed he still is now, and any trade worth will drop as quickly as his HR and RBI totals.

2. You live in the world of sports center highlights
and really don't know much else about baseball.

You've proven that much.

If Wright was on the Giants and you traded him for....say...Pablo Sandoval....just about everyone connected to the sport would call you the biggest horses ass in the world for doing so. That's trade on par with with what Mile Milbury used to do to the isles.

4. There's absolutely no way
There's absolutely no way the Giants would trade Pablo for little Davey.

Sandoval is producing now, not last year, he isn't using the excuse of a poor lineup around him not to do so.

As I have already documented, not only is Pablo a better hitter he's a superior fielder.

The Panda hits HR, Wright has suddenly and mysteriously developed warning track power.

Pablo represents the future, not the past..Wright is on the downside of his career.

Your little baseball world consists almost entirely of what people think back East...in other words, all your opinions are peppered with a serious dose of East Coast bias.

7. No, I want them to keep hoping and trying.
And failing.

8. You might get you wish if they keep Minaya
Which Wilpon is stupid enough to do.

Personally I'd like to see them trade Sheff. With the the AL getting home feild for the series he'd probably be the best DH available for an NL team.

Mets might have something in Murphy. That kid is starting to look pretty decent.

If they can find a way to move castillo and Sheff for young prospects, let Delgado and Wagner walk, they are in good shape to grab Tejada and Bay this offseason. That improves them next season in Left and Second Base.
