Interesting perspective on the Frisco Chokers from the Frisco Choker's blog
Well, these guys are not like the twins. It appears they are even willing to concede that the Giants first half was more of a bubble. And it just popped;
--------------------
I suppose things are a little muddled now. The Giants are rebuilding. The Giants are contending. The Giants need to keep their core of prospects together. The Giants need to win at all costs. Flags do fly forever, you know. The Giants have a winning record, and their run differential matches up nicely with their record, but some abacus ticklers think the Giants have been a little lucky with their offense, and the team could be in for a fall. Translated: they aren’t a team that should rightfully be over .500, and they’ll regress in the second half.

Interesting theories, all. After careful consideration of the above factors, it’s time for a trade deadline manifesto.

And a few fan posts;

79 wins
Any moves they make should be made with an eye towards 2010. I guess I am one of those abacus ticklers. I feel that the 1st half was smoke and mirrors. But now that the smoke has dissipated and the mirrors have cracked, the team should continue with what the plan has been all along: see what is in-house this season, and spend some money filling holes in the offseason.
_________

Agree.

We’re playing with house money by even being discussed for playoff contention. That makes this “rebuilding” season much more palatable…hell, most folks would have been happy with a 75-win season.

Plus, the holes are too plentiful to be filled with any satisfaction via a few trades at the deadline.

Believe it or not, I’m glad they’ve hit a bit of a skid. The way things were going, Sabean would have likely traded some young talent for a Rent-A-Player to push us into ’09 Postseason.

I’d rather see this team do well in ‘10-’13 than push for ’09 and mortgage more of the future.

Gotta give something to get something I always harken back to the first Kevin Mitchell trade and the Matt Williams trade.
To get Mitch, Dravecky, and Leftyerts we had to part with a young, already All-Star 3B/future pop star Chris Brown and future CY Mark Davis…
And to rebuild a mediocre mid-90’s team into perenneial contenders, we had to do the unthinkable: part with Matty Williams.

That said, this may not be the year to pull another…
Glad it’s not my call (not really, any openings Giants brass??)
________________

Who's even available? Freddy Sanchez? Matt Holiday? Alex Rios? Are these guys that are really going to be THAT helpful? I like them all if we somehow got them ALL on the same team, but obviously that would cost too much. I think Rios is probably the most realistic piece to trade for, since his team wants to dump him so bad, but I’m not sure him alone makes the team playoff CUNTENDURZ.

So IDK. But what I do know is I trust Brian Sabean.

To do exactly the wrong thing.

of the Giants' first half. Suddenly even Timmy the Goat can't get a win.
