College Football Blows
That's right. I said it.

Here's all you need to know about college football: The team with the fastest skilled players wins.

That's it and that's all.

No strategy. No game planning. Just get the ball to your fastest WR/QB/RB and get them past the line of scrimmage. That's it.

This is why "QBs" like Tim Teebow and Vince Young can dominate in college and have no shot on the pro level where the speed is equal.

11. Prove Me Wrong
Why do you think that "QBs" like Teebow won't have a career in the NFL. He can't tuck the ball away and run for daylight in the NFL. You actually have to do real QB things like read the defenses and throw the ball with accuracy, and your receiver won't be open ten yards behind the defender because of the receiver's speed differential.

15. You mean like Marino, Aikman, Favre, etc...
Hell more recently Matt Ryan with BC... All college players.

There's no guarantee that Tebow won't do well in the NFL---

Your generalization about college football leads me to believe that you don't know what you're talking about.

2. "The team with the fastest skilled players wins"

(yes, everybody loves Erin Andrews..)

USC hasn't won in the State of Oregon for three years. Two losses to the Beav's I might add.

3. I was interested in history of Pac-10 football teams
I looked into Oregon State and I might add there was one bizarre incident. I think it was 2000 and they played USC which they haven't beat since 1967. After they gave up two touchdowns a possum ran across the field and scored a touchdown but the strange thing is the possum was tackled by a staff member who made a game saving tackle on OJ Simpson as well as the subsequent fumble recover the last time Oregon State beat USC. Of course Oregon State went on to upset USC in that game if you remember anything at all of what I'm talking about.

4. Yes, but, in retrospect, that OSU team was possibly more talented than USC!
It did have TJ Houshmanzadeh and Ocho Cinco lining up at receivers and Nick Barnett at LB. (plus others that survived for a time in the NFL)

http://alumni.oregonstate.edu/stater/issues/Stater0012/sports.html
Early in the second quarter of OSU's 31-21 victory in Corvallis, a possum appeared in the south end zone during a time out; the meandering marsupial proceeded to dash the length of the field, earning a thunderous cheer as it headed into the north end zone.

The possum was taken by Jess Lewis - a hero of that 1967 game, now head of maintenance for OSU's athletic facilities - and released unharmed in a field near campus. But, as Brooks Hatch of the Corvallis Gazette-Times noted the next day, the animal had run for more yards in a few seconds than the eighth-ranked Trojans managed all day. The possum wound up on highlight shows from coast to coast, and so did the Beavers.

6. I forgot Ocho Cinco played for Oregon State
The last player I enjoyed seeing play for Oregon State was Steven Jackson. FWIW I'm an Arizona State fan but Jackson really gave me some headaches but he was a fan player to watch when he wasn't playing the Devils.

2004 Outback. Florida. 2005 Capital One. LSU. 2009 Outback. South Carolina. Many more. These came to mind. Your theory doesn't have Iowa on the same field with these "fast" SEC teams. You're full of shit, Yavin. There's more to the game than you can see. Go back to posting to whatever sport you believe in. Stay the fuck out of this one.

13. Mitigating Circumstances
In 2004, Ron Zook, a horrible coach, lead Florida.

In 2005, Nick Saban announced before the game that he was leaving for Miami.

In 2009, South Carolina was not probably all that much faster than Iowa.

No, sir, You ARE FULL OF SHIT. College Football is nothing more than a track meet, nothing else. Are there exceptions to that rule? Yes, if you have a bad coach or a coach that's leaving, but that is pretty much the rule.

That's why the Big 10 cannot win for shit in National Title games because they don't have the speed. That's why USC owns the Rose Bowl every year. That's why USC dominated Ohio.

Hell, the last evenly matched title game was between USC and Texas, and that's because there was speed all over the field.

So, Don't come here and tell me that I don't know what I am fucking talking about you pig-headed moron. I can comment on any subject that I feel like.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SUUUUUCCCCCCKKKSSSSS!!!! It's a sport for morons.

17. Let me guess, you like the No Fun League brand of snore fest football.
One of the reasons I love college football is the big plays and daring playcalling that you do not see in the NFL. Because the teams are so evenly matched at every position, you tend to have very conservative play calling with fewer big plays (because the defenses are way better at every position in the pros). Because you can't exploit match-ups as well in the NFL, the game itself tends to be boring.

Also, I love the college game because the kids play their hearts out because they are either playing for 1) money (for those going pro) or 2) colors and school (for those knowing they are not going pro).

50. Nice generalization there, hoss
I love college football. I suppose I am a moron?

I love the whole look and feel of college ball. I love how people can root for their local college teams.

Growing up in Alabama, we did not have a professional football team. The Crimson Tide gave the state excitement and great football.

There are fast teams, sure, but there are also "blue collar" teams that grind out games five yards at a time. They eat up the turf to get to the end zone.

There are other sports that I don't like, but I would never generalize and call the followers of those sports "morons."

James and Lars suck. They didn't let him do shit in the band, just play what THEY wrote. They didn't want him to do any side projects either. He was wise to bail, and it's because of him that the band Voivod reemerged, and they've been one of my favorites since the 80's. I will be eternally grateful to him just for that alone.

Having said, the new Metallica really isn't that bad.

Tyrell Sales, a Penn State football player from Butler, was arrested following a St. Patrick's Day celebration disturbance at a Station Square nightspot.

Sales, 22, a starting outside linebacker, was charged with defiant trespass and disorderly conduct for the incident that Pittsburgh Police said occurred about 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Margarita Mama's. The city's St. Patrick's Day Parade was held earlier in the day.
