Plate Of Shrimp On Buefhle's Perfecto
I had meetings in the northern suburbs of Chicago this morning and early afternoon.

So, i'm driving home. Everyone here knows i'm a parochial about Chicago, but i'm a Cub fan first. (Not a Sox hater thought. I don't get that whole thing.)

So i hear on the radio that he's pitching a perfecto. I put on WSCR which is the sportstalk show that does Sox games.

Ninth inning comes around. I'm listening as i drive down the Dan Ryan south. When Ramirez picked up the ground ball and throws to 2nd for the final out I WAS DRIVING BY THE CELL!!!!

No i wasn't there! (There were about 28k there but in 10 years it will be 200,000 folks who say they were.) But, i was actually driving by on the Ryan when the FINAL OUT OCCURRED!

That's so weird! (The "Plate of Shrimp" thing is for you Repo Man fans.)

1. Pretty cool, Professor.
Did ya hear the crowd? Probably pretty tough over the noise of the Ryan.

3. Could you hear Ken Harrelson screaming like a
psychopath from the stadium?

If I wasn't typing on my phone right now I'd link the audio, but that had to be the most embarrassing historic call I've ever heard.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes....jesus Christ Ken, have something memorized and ready to go. They could have gotten any drunk in the bleachers to have screamed yes half a dozen times into the microphone.

He's just god awful. What is wrong with chicago baseball announcers any way?

4. I Don't Like Harrelson
I'm not a Sox fan first. So i never listen to HIM. I was listening to the game. You understand the difference, right?

8. No. Even He Isn't That Obnoxious
And, by the way: I think his "you can put it on the board. . .yes!" home run call is the worst in history.

When he first started doing it, i thought it was cool. But, it was because he almost always said it BEFORE the ball actually landed in the stands. That meant he only did it when someone truly hammered it. (Like when someone hits it hard enough to get to McCovey Cove. There is NO doubt when the ball comes off the bat.)

He got a couple wrong in the early days and started doing the WHOLE CALL when the ball when already in the stands. Well, "you can put it on the board" is belaboring the obvious when the fan already has the ball.

Sorry, i missed your point earlier. My fault. We're in agreement. The "hawk" is one of the worst announcers ever. (And i didn't capitalize it on purpose!)

9. Yea. And then you have someone like Steve Stone who I
very much enjoyed and respected doing the Cubs .. The Hawk could take notes, but I will say harrelson is far less offensive sans paciorek (sp?) who I understand was dumped by the Nationals.
