Aaron: Release 104 drug names "Right fucking now!"
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/08/04/aaron.drug.names.ap/index.html

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) -- Hank Aaron wants the list of players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003 to be released.

In a wide-ranging interview Tuesday night with The Associated Press, the Hall of Famer said releasing the list would help Major League Baseball get past the so-called "Steroid Era." The list was supposed to remain anonymous and is now under court seal, but big names have continued to leak out.

"I wish for once and forever that we could come out and say we have 100 and some names, name them all and get it over and let baseball go on," the former home run king said. "I don't know how they keep leaking out. I just wish that they would name them all and get it over with."

Aaron also wanted to make a few other things clear.

No, he has not spoken with commissioner Bud Selig about banned Pete Rose being reinstated in baseball. But he does think it's time Rose, the career hits leader, be reinstated and voted into the Hall of Fame.

..snip

RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

1. The White Sox manager said the same thing.
He said the names dribbling out little by little is like a wife who keeps threatening to leave but never does.

3. I agree as well.
And so does Bob Ryan.

The great Robert B. Parker said it best. “Baseball,’’ he reminded us, “is the most important thing in life that doesn’t matter.’’

7. Wait...when did the "Steroid Era" pass us by?
And what good would releasing sealed court documents (no matter how oft-released by loose-lipped "lawyers" names are dropped) do?

Are we now under the assumption that nobody is using, at least en masse? Are we now under the assumption that MLB players aren't using any sort of performance enhancing substances? At all?

Aaron, all due respect, but puh-lease.

10. Agreed. Now they use designer HGH and MLB is probably not too "keen" on
keeping up with the latest science of testing.

9. Ok, two problems:
1. Who should release it? The union isn't going to do it, obviously. If MLB does it, they get a lawsuit from the player's union the next day. The Feds won't do it, because it would impede their investigation. This list was supposed to be anonymous, as a way of allowing the league to get a handle on just how serious the problem actually was.

2. Releasing the list gives a phony sense of completion to this whole issue. There seems to be some bizarre sense that these guys were the only ones using, that nobody is using anything anymore, and that this was only a baseball issue. The calls for... whoever to release the list just smack of short-sighted desperation, not of any real sense that this leads to a real conclusion.

11. I agree, it won't be relesaed, buit it should...once you start
leaking a few names here and there, it's like blackmail..you know the names taht were released so far is simply payback.

12. It'd have to be the union, and you're right, they'll never do it.
