Furious Fielder charges LA clubhouse
Brewers slugger tries to confront Mota after plunking

LOS ANGELES -- A screaming-mad Prince Fielder was stopped at the door of the Dodgers clubhouse by security officials before a large group of Brewers teammates caught up and prevented the slugger from confronting Dodgers reliever Guillermo Mota following a tense finish to Milwaukee's blowout loss on Tuesday.

Tempers flared after Mota hit Fielder in the leg with a pitch with two outs in the ninth inning of the Dodgers' 17-4 rout. It was apparent retaliation for the two Dodgers hitters -- including Manny Ramirez in the seventh inning -- who were plunked earlier in the game.

Mota was immediately ejected by home plate umpire Lance Barksdale. Fielder stood at home plate for a few moments before reluctantly taking his base, but after Dodgers left fielder Juan Pierre made a leaping catch to end the game, Fielder charged down the dugout steps, and he didn't stop there.

He knew the location of the Dodgers clubhouse because it's near a weight room used by visitors, so Fielder hustled past fans and reporters toward the door, yelling obscenities. A number of his teammates caught up with Fielder in time to usher him back to the visitor's side

1. Two bad he's a first baseman...it could be "Furious Fielder Fielder..."
Is it me, or are there more retaliation hits by pitchers this year...seems so blatantly obvious at times.

2. As long as they don't throw at the head I don't have a major problem with it.
It's one of the few ways baseball players can police themselves. In hockey if you pull shit against someone you better keep your head on a swivel, not only in that game, but in every future game against that team. Hockey polices itself like no other sport, and the result is a common respect between the players, and a definite tendency to think twice before doing something stupid. You WILL pay, sooner or later.

My only problem is that AL pitchers never have to face it themselves. As much as I think Pedro was a maroon, he never had any fears of throwing at someone in the NL, even though he knew he'd have to bat himself. I don't like him, but I can respect that.

3. Yeah, there was that a**hole Angels pitcher who hit Papi's wrist
earlier in the season, the wrist he had surgery on last season, so I have a problem with more than just aiming at the head...and you get into the other team deciding what was intentional or not.

4. Yeah, but (at least to me) the unwritten rule of not throwing at the top guys
is gone. As I recall, you didn't throw at a Jeter, Ramirez, etc. That seems to be gone. Just like in hockey, you didn't go after Gretzky or there would be a much stiffer price to pay. Shit, I can remember being a kid and watching the Bruins all the time. If you even considered going after Bourque, Terry O'Reilly was going to sincerely fuck you up.

5. Prince found out they had doughnuts in the home locker room and not the visitors.

6. Not much like his dad - he'd just laugh it off
though I don't think stars deserve any different treatment than other players. One of the most annoying things about Gretzky. Gordie Howe stood up for himself.

7. I have to admit that was a ridiculous bullshit move by Mota
throwing at someone with a 17-4 lead.

:wtf:

I'm in total disagreement with this whole throwing retaliatorily at players. Stupid.

But what Fielder did after the game was bullshit also. A big phony show. But I still like Prince...
