Punch at Boise ends Blount's season(Suspended entire season)
EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon has suspended running back LeGarrette Blount for the remainder of the season for punching Boise State linebacker Byron Hout after Thursday night's loss.

Immediately following Boise's 19-8 victory, an ESPN replay of the incident showed Hout taunting Blount as the teams converged onto the field. As a Broncos assistant coach moved to separate Hout from Blount, the Oregon senior threw a right cross that connected with Hout's right jaw. Hout went down and popped right back up.

"Under no circumstance is fighting acceptable," the NCAA said in a statement Friday. "If it occurs before or during a game, the officials enforce the rules. If it occurs after a game, institutions and conferences decide how to address the situation. We trust our members to handle these situations appropriately. Sportsmanship is everyone's responsibility, including student-athletes, coaches, officials, institutions and fans.

In a statement prior to Blount's suspension, Oregon president Richard Lariviere called the player's behavior "reprehensible."

"We do not and will not tolerate the actions that were taken by our player. Oregon's loyal fans expect and deserve better," Lariviere said. "The University of Oregon Athletics Department is reviewing the situation and will take appropriate action, reflecting the seriousness of the player's behavior."

Boise State spokesman Max Corbet told The Associated Press in an e-mail Friday that head coach Chris Petersen will not suspend Hout. Instead, Petersen will spend time with Hout this week to help him learn from what happened.

Boise State replayed Blount slugging Hout several times on the giant screen in the north end zone of Bronco Stadium. Amid jeers from the crowd, Blount, who was being escorted from the field by Oregon assistant coach Scott Frost, got into another confrontation with fans.

4. And nothing happened at all to the Boise player. Which is wrong.
This is not a case of right and wrong. This is wrong and wrong. Boise State ought to be ashamed of themselves, too, and I for one will not root for them to win another game this year.

Some schools police themselves better than others.

13. BSU coach was in Hout's face even before he was sucker punched
He was policed just fine. It doesn't always take a suspension to be punished and all Hout did was say a couple of words. If Blount would've just walked away we would never even know that Hout tapped him on the shoulder and said a couple of words which just shows you the impact of Blount's decision.

As much as I hate Oregon, Oregon shouldn't be ashamed of themselves over the actions of one player especially when teammates(including the one Blount punched) and coaching staff was trying to restrain him. Neither should Boise St because their head coach was in the face of Hout letting him know how he feels even BEFORE the sucker punch was thrown.

6. I've heard two things
both stemming from Blount trash talking before the game about how they (Oregon) owe them an ass kicking. I heard that the BS guy said either "We really kicked your ass," or "Now you owe us two ass kickings!"

Unconfirmed

7. Whatever he said wasn't more than a couple of words, Poiuyt.
I'm not a lip-reader. Wasn't much, though. Remind you of another incident? Maybe a head butting in World Cup Soccer? However, the look on Blunts face as he went toward the crowd was nothing but psychotic. This guy's trouble. He'll be a Raider before ya know it.

10. In the Zidane incident
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 09:28 PM by Upton
Materazzi supposedly said something nasty about Zidane's mother and sister. In fact, the Italian has admitted insulting Zidane's sister, the only disagreement is whether or not he called Zinedine's mother names, which Zidane and some professional lip readers have insisted he did.

Thing is, Materizzi was banned for 2 games by FIFA for baiting Zidane, possibly a similar punishment should have been hung on Hout.
