It's very weird to be a Syracuse football fan
And have to regard Greg Paulus as your potential savior at QB rather than one of the all time most obnoxious Duke basketball players. He played really well in the OT loss Saturday, despite throwing an interception in OT that lost the game. He threw quite a few passes that the recievers muffed earlier, and generally played spectacularly well for someone who hadn't played a football game in 5 years. I don't expect much against Penn State, but I expect us to be competitive in many of the season's games, as he's only likely to get better, and the defense played pretty well by Syracuse standards this week.

1. I caught the replay of the Minnesota and Syracuse game

It was really good, it's a shame that someone had to lose that game. The Duke PG I thought looked fine, on the INT he should have just thrown that thing away but I'm saying that from the comfort of my computer.

3. I never have understood the obnoxious Duke Basketball player thing
With the exception of Christian Laettner I've yet to think of a Duke Basketball Player as Obnoxious. Is it because they are relatively sucessful year in and year out? Because of Paulus I am a Syracuse fan this year and wish them well.

4. Well for one thing Paulus was the king
Of the phony flopping for fouls. Basically a player came within 2 feet of him and he flopped. I dislike pretty much all Duke players except Grant Hill but Paulus was especially smarmy.

5. The Orangemen need some good leadership on the field...
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 03:52 PM by brendan120678
Hopefully Paulus can provide that.

Syracuse is my favorite Big East football team, by the way - although I am a fan the UConn Huskies now that I live here, and my father-in-law has gotten me season tickets for their football games the past 4 years.

As a side note - Syracuse is my second favorite in basketball, after St. John's - my alma mater.

6. UConn football got pretty good pretty fast

But Syracuse pretty much owns them in BE basketball tournament play, the 6OT game being the 4th win in a row if I am not mistaken.

I like football but LIVE for college basketball.

7. I went to the Michigan/Syracuse game where Syracuse won (with McNabb)
It was in Ann Arbor, and what stuck in my head afterwards was when everyone was walking out of the stadium, feeling kind of dejected, the mascot, which was an orange on legs, went about trying to cheer the Michigan fans up with its antics - raising its arms, and raising spirits! It was awesome.

8. I never heard of this guy until last Saturday
Thanks for telling me who he played basketball for. I bet 1000+ college basketball games per season but it's systematic so I pay no attention to personnel.

From the ESPN obsession it was obvious he was high profile, but every time I was clicked to that game they never specified where he had played.
