Juan Martin del Potro--2009 US Open Champion!
He just broke Federer again. Federer just didn't have it today. And, del Potro has maybe the best forehand in history

How soon before del Potro is world #1?

1. So, does Federer retire after this collapse?
It was a great run, but he has been eclipsed.

3. This was like Lendl losing to Sampras.
Federer simply couldn't play with Delpo. Delpo has a better forehand, better backhand, better serve.

Federer lost tonight to a superior talent. And del Potro is only going to get better.

Will Federer want to hang around hoping to make the semis instead of winning tournaments?

4. not likely
The match wasn't exactly one-sided. Federer is getting older, and clearly won't dominate the future the way he dominated the past few years, but to suggest that he's somehow demonstrated an inability to compete is pretty silly.

5. He experience edge was the only reason it was close.
Federer list because he was completely overmatched from the baseline. Completely. Federer's forehand used to be considered the best ever, and it was a complete nonfactor because Delpo's was so much better.

The baton has been passed. Everyone thought Nadal would succeed him, but in fact it's del Potro who is the new dominant player.

I'll go so far as to predict that Federer never wins against del Potro again.

9. I'm Not On that Wagon Yet... But What Del P-O-T-R-O Did Was Knock
him on his heels! I did notice that Federer made mention of the fact that he had won 44 matches at the US OPEN without a loss! I guess he felt he needed that "extra" boost. I didn't like hearing that, even IF it was true!

It was DelPo's moment and I wish he would have just let it go! But, as good as he is, Fed... I was never one who rooted for him. Can even tell you why, because he has made some shots I would never have ever imagined!

One was against Nove in his match before DelPo... my mouth was wide open with that between the legs shot! Still, I'm not one of his "fannies" and never have been.

7. Reminds me of the Australian Open in what, 2005 or 06?
Del Porto was on a roll like Safin was...sometimes a guy just has it and even Roger couldn't beat him...i think Del porto will get better, although you can hardly say he's the next big thing until he wins some more since he never got close to a final before, but Roger isn't done...look at how easily he's dispatched the others on his path to the final...he didn't have it yesterday, that's all. Certainly it's getting late in his career, but he has a few years left.

8. Hey... All Three Of Them Were Count DelPo Out!! So Glad THEY ALL
got their come-uppence! AND, I'm so happy, glad and and all other words you might want to apply, that DelPo pulled it off!!

Love Novak Djocovic, and think he will be back again, and I really love Rafa, but I was getting SO TIRED of hearing Federer all the time! Not that he didn't deserve it, he's SUPER... still mixing it up makes it so much more exciting!

And AGAIN, Lief, Jimmy AND Martina didn't give DelPo much of a chance, and early on were VERY negative in their comments!!

I'm ONE VERY HAPPY tennis fan!! It was a FANTASTIC US OPEN!!!
