Cowboys set to surpass 100K fans for opening of new stadium
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/09/16/cowboys.ap/index.html

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The new Cowboys Stadium may have a record-setting full house this Sunday night.

Cowboys spokesman Brett Daniels says the team's standing-room "Party Pass" tickets, at $29 apiece, have sold out. The Cowboys will say only that the standing-room total exceeds 20,000 fans.

Combined with regular ticket sales in the 80,000-seat stadium, Dallas could challenge the NFL attendance record of 103,467 when they take on the New York Giants.

The record was set Oct. 2, 2005, when San Francisco and Arizona played a regular-season game at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS!!

1. Cowboys-Giants, should be a classic.
Both teams have much to prove.

2. Should be. Hopefully the Cowboys will be able to get some pressure
on Manning so that he can't take advantage of the secondary.

We'll see.

8. An okay club? I don't think they played particularly well this past
week, but you're obviously unaware that a majority of the experts not only predict the Giants will finish ahead of Dallas, they predict NY will be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Now if we were competing for whose stadium looks most like a shiny toilet, then you would definitely win!

9. When the Giants reach the historical glory that Dallas has, we'll talk...

until then, the Giants are a decent club, but not a great one. Maybe someday, but Dallas' Super Bowl record speaks for itself.

Contender.

10. Remind me again when the last time was your franchise even
won a playoff game.
I love listening to Dallas fans talk about the glory days.

11. You take the short view of history, I take the long one...the Giants are a fine team...
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 09:18 PM by mix
...but historically a mediocre one. In other words, Eli Manning is a perfect fit for your club.

13. in the long view
the Giants are one of the most historically successful franchises in the league. The NFL was around long before the Super Bowl era.

14. Also, the NFL, prior to the SB era was a much different dynamic, that
at many times was barely surviving. I don't think you can compare the NFL of my Dad's era to the SB era.

15. it all counts
Vince Lombardi was as great a coach before the Super Bowl as he was after it.

Frank Gifford and Sam Huff were both great players despite playing before the Super Bowl. Same for guys like Otto Graham and Jim Brown.

4. And there isn't any public transportation from Dallas!
There is a shuttle from Ft. Worth. And the parking costs a whopping $75!

But at least they finally got Tom Landry's statue moved.

20. Funny, but I seem to remember that attendance is a very important
factor in the success of a team, at least according to what I have read here in the past. Teams that have low attendance are a disgrace to the league!
