1. I don't know.
I've been out all night seeing bands. I take it from your gloating that they lost? :)

2. Seeing bands of rain. We had that down here earlier today.

Hope you dry out!

3. Don't wish for dry weather on my part.
Cold and rainy is mint weather for me. I hate heat, I hate sun, and I hate the people who like them. ;)

4. You can have all of the cold and wet weather you want.
Keep it above 60 for me. It makes it really gnarly when it is wet and cold and quagmirely when I am hiking.

5. It's in the 50's here and I still have two fans going.
In the 30's, overcast and flurries is my weather! I have no idea how anyone can live south of NYC. If Hudson Bay accepted SSI I'd be there. :)

7. Shit, man! My wife is from upstate New York, and I don't know how they survive.
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 11:14 PM by madinmaryland
That would be Poughkeepsie. (I am so fucking dead now!).

Edit to add: I lived in CT for over 2o years, after moving from Ohio.

BTW, you want cold, move the fuck west. Try NW Ohio, where I grew up, or Alaska where my sister lives.

If so hook me up with the location. No joke. :D

I hear that cboy4 has a room in Washington State though that you could rent, since upton kicked him out.

6. Can't win 'em all.
I'm confident the Angels will continue to suck against us in the playoffs. Look at the implosion they suffered last night. Forget about the bad calls (which were horrible). Loading the bases after you get 2 outs in the 9th is no way to win ballgames. They may deny it, but Torii Hunter's remarks suggest the Sox rattle the Halos mentally.

17. I agree with the Angels. It's embarrassing how intimidated
the umpires are at Fenway Park. Boston doesn't have the best home record for nothing.

13. How about those Rangers!
Getting swept at home by the A's. I guess they really don't want to go to the playoffs! Color me sick of seeing the Skankees and Ded Sox in the playoffs every year!

15. I don't see why it's a bias to televise two teams that draw the best ratings.
As for the two teams always making it, isn't that the goal of the season?

18. Well, considering Bud Selig's policies have benefitted only a couple of teams,
it is not surprising that the game of baseball is on the fast track to EPIC FAIL.

Unlike other major professional sports which have decided that actually decided that parity is good for the game. I guess baseball has decided to stay in the 19th century.

20. Well, I won't argue with that, but it doesn't make the claim of an East Coast bias true.
Edited on Fri Sep-18-09 09:17 PM by Forkboy
The only bias I see is to the highest ratings. If it was the Pirates pulling in the viewers you can bet your ass they'd be on all the time as well. Selig's actions, and the lack of parity in the league, isn't the fault of those who televise the games. They're just going to show whichever teams bring them the most ad revenue.

Speaking of a lack of parity, there probably won't be a salary cap in the NFL next year. You should get into hockey. ;)

21. I beg to differ with you on that comment. The lack of parity is a result of
the networks and their bias towards the East Coast teams. Selig is cowtowing to the major networks. Can you imagine the annoyance Rupert Murdoch would have if he had to televise a game outside of the northern east US? :yoiks:

Apparently a little socialism in baseball is an anathema to fans outside of new york, boston, and los angeles.

Hockey? HA! (as Chris Matthews would say) Licensed thugs.
