DirecTV drops Versus...
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 07:49 AM by SidDithers
saw this in a GD post, thought I'd copy it over here. Don't know how bad this really is for the NHL, but it certainly hurts Gary Bettman. He was the one who got into a spat with ESPN about broadcast fees, and ended up leaving ESPN for Versus.

Edit: didn't realize this issue was a couple weeks old.

1. You can pretty much watch every game online for free somewhere these days anyways.
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 08:21 AM by Forkboy
Sites like Channelsurfing.net and MyP2P have 90% of the games up every night. I got rid of cable last year and have watched more sports without than I could with it. Hell, I can watch Swiss, Czech, German and Russian hockey if I want to.

6. Yes, but do you have a 40-inch comp moniter?
Not too upset about this considering CSNBA is televising 75 Sharks games this season. Or it might be CSNCA, whatever.

8. Do you care about the results of the game or how pretty it looks?
:P

Run an Svideo cable from your PC's video card to the tv.

10. I got one just for the baseball package.
The baseball package that my cable provider offers doesn't have all the games, so I got it online through MLB and run it to my TV. It's great!

11. I don't do it now as my tv is an old suck job of a television.
It's better to just watch it on the great monitor I have. I'm getting a new tv next month (nothing fancy, but new) and I'll be doing just that. It's better than dealing with cable companies, and I only want to watch sports anyways. Why have 100 channels when I only watch sports? :)

2. NHL Center Ice is the way to go.
heck I can watch virtually every Sharks game that way, I think Versus only has 3 Sharks games on their schedule anyway.

I also think that DirecTV and Versus will eventually come to some sort of arrangement, but if they don't, it's not the end of the world for this DirecTV subscriber.

3. We have DirecTv and I'm kinda pissed about this
We watch versus all cycling season, but esp. for the Tour de France. Universal has picked up most of the cycling schedule, but this is certainly annoying.
DirecTv said we had Fox Soccer Channel, but of course, we don't (despite the fact that our package says we have it).

I know, I know, I should just move to Europe considering the sports I'm a fan of...

4. If you have a decent package or even the sports package
FSC should be on at 619.

5. Thank you...
I have to call directv. We pay a damn fortune for this package, it says we're supposed to have it...yet, the channel doesn't come in.
Thanks for saving me a channel search!

9. I LOVE hockey, but the regular season is irrelevant, so I'm getting Setanta instead.

And the playoffs were rigged last year.

I would enjoy watching college hockey.
