Jim Zorn tugs on Superman's cape - MISTAKE

Jim, you don't mix it up with Sonny Jurgensen in this town. Someone needs to give Zorn some Redskins history of the time Jurgensen came into a game for ONE play and was told by George Allen, to hand off to Larry Brown to set a field goal. Jurgensen threw a touchdown pass to Charley Taylor and got chewed out on the sidelines for doing so. It was Sonny's greatest moment.

-- JURGENSEN, ZORN FACE OFF: Plenty of fans and analysts have questioned the third-and-five play call midway through the third quarter, when Zorn dialed up a halfback option to Clinton Portis, whose pass fell incomplete in the end zone. The Redskins then settled for their third field goal. Legendary Redskins quarterback and radio analyst Sonny Jurgensen was among those who questioned the call, but he did so while talking with Zorn during the postgame show Sunday.

"Third down, I'm the quarterback, and you call the halfback throwing the ball for me, I'm calling timeout or calling an audible," Jurgensen said. "I'm not letting the halfback throw it. That's what you pay me for."

"Well, then, I would have to take you out of the game," Zorn countered. "As soon as you called timeout, I'd say what's wrong with my play, because . . ."

"It didn't work!" Jurgensen interrupted.

"No, but I called it to work. All right?" Zorn said. "We called it to work. It didn't work. There were a lot of plays out there that didn't work. And I'd take you out of the game. Sorry, Sonny."

There was a long pause.

but he was hired to be fired. Danny boy wants a big name coach. He'll coach Cowher or Shanahan next year.

was an elite DC for many years before getting a job where he was undercut by the owner's decision to move the team. Zorn had never even call plays before. He is in way over his hear.

And by the way, by year two Eli Manning had made enough strides to lead his team to an 11-5 record and division championship. But keep Zorn. Please do.

He came awfully close to be fired with the Giants...As he was fired from the Jags. There were people saying he could never win a big game too.

had an expansion team in the AFC Championship game in his second season and back there his next year. He was in the playoffs with the Giants in year 2 and back every year. He was almost fired because he was too much of a hard ass. So he adjusted his tactics, while keeping his principles. Zorn isn't even in the same zip code as Coughlin in terms of coaching ability.

14. I would agree if Campbell hadn't had to sit through an off-season in which other QBs were courted...

Zorn needs to show confidence in Campbell or play someone else.

The rollout is the obvious play to call in this situation as a passing lane might show up or Campbell is athletic enough to run it in on his own.

Or even an old-fashioned option.

the QB can give his input but at the end of the day he has to answer to the head coach.

Players who think they're bigger than the team and the coach should sit, and I would have done exactly what Zorn said he'd do. Sit his ass. Jourgeson is right that's it's not the smartest call, but to say he wouldn't run it is prima donna bullshit.
