NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL: WEEK 4
Okay, poolers. I'm running on just barely fumes. Dead. Saw Springsteen last night. No sleep (too jacked), then a 12 hour shift. Yet, here I am. A little PSA with guitar. See the Man before he calls it a career. Last night was my ninth time. Just fantastic. I'm still over the moon. Clarence doesn't look so great, so I figure one, maybe two, tours left. Bruce turns 60, tomorrow. Happy B-Day, Bossman. I'll put it simply. The GREATEST Rock n Roller the USA (quite possibly the world- ya fuckin Stones fans, take a seat- NO MATCH) has ever produced. So see The Boss if you get the chance. Okay. Down to business. Thursday Night game. So get it done.

Thursday
Mississippi -3.5 @ South Carolina

Saturday
North Carolina +2.5 @ Georgia Tech
The "U" (Miami) -2 @ Virginia Tech
California -7 @ Oregon
Arizona State +12.5 @ Georgia
Iowa + 10 @ Penn State
Texas Tech +1 @ Houston
TCU + 3 @ Clemson

There you have it. Good fucking luck, as always. Standings to follow, shortly.

24. I can't freakin' believe it!
I guess my mom taught me about football, too.
And my husband loves the underdogs, so that must rub off too.

Good luck to Iowa, Condem. I can't stand PSU.

Oh, and Boomer Sooner, despite our bye week!

ABC is hyping it as the REVENGE game so the Nitts will be stoked. We always play them well. I think we'll cover at the very least.

2. I'm not to be fooled...
It is all too tempting to put in my picks right now. I think this is a crafty trick by our Condem to cut into my lead. I too spent last night at the Church of Rock-n-Roll where once again my soul was saved. If you're not into Big 10 football (secretly, shhhh, I still love the SEC,) then that Iowa/Penn State game looks easy enough. Penn State is better, it's a night game and their "white-out game", and they're looking for major revenge. But - even if Penn State comes to crush - that's a scary big spread. Methinks I'll wait 'til tomorrow until I can take a clear-headed, well-rested approach.

3. Fair and balanced analysis of Arizona St you should read before making picks
Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 10:26 PM by JonLP24
I'm sure you all seen Georgia on TV and can evaluate them based on what you saw. Their QB threw 5(I think) touchdowns last week so I'm :scared:

In both games they handily defeated opponents and sat out starters at halftime. Granted it was against poor opponents but you can see certain things about the team.

First game was against Idaho St and it was Danny Sullivan's first game as a starter and he was shaky but the receivers dropped 3 potential touchdowns. In that game ASU's defense only let Idaho St across the 50 one time and Safety, last year's leader of the Pac-10 in Interceptions had 3 in that game including one for a touchdown.

They handled UL Monroe 38-14(7 was in junk time with third stringers on the field) you laugh, ha UL Monroe but this last year had a winning record and defeated Arkansas as well as Troy.

Now in all my years I've rarely seen Arizona State handled these teams. In 2004 when ASU started the season #17 they were tied 21-21 against Northern Arizona going into the 4th qtr and pulled away 35-21 so this is one of the best Sun Devil team I seen in years.

Danny Sullivan-QB- He was shaky in his first start but second game he was hitting receivers and made no mistakes. His teammates call him "Vanilla Vick" while he may not have the same mobility he can get escape sacks and run for 10 yds.

Their running game has been good so far which is a good sign as Arizona St hasn't had a very ineffective running game since Jr Redmond.

The defense is the unit that shines the most. You have Mike Nixon who was tied for the lead in the Pac-10 in interceptions last year has 3 this year is always where he needs to be.

Ok I saved the best for last. Vontaze Burfict - the #1 ILB, #9 overall recruit in the country is already proving his worth. He may be used as a situational guy and use a MLB that has better coverage skills more often, Burfict is excellent at attacking the line of scrimmage and is in the backfield almost every play. You have not seen him play and I can go on all day taking about this guy please take my word for it.

Here is a video of Vontaze Burfict http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwJCYhOdazE

Bottom line last year Arizona St was overrated and this years team is much better at several positions including Special Teams. Also Georgia this year doesn't have Knowshon Moreno so I don't have to see thousands of clips of him diving over an ASU player into the endzone. :eyes:

Biggest stat of the year. 0 turnovers on offense this season. Let me repeat 0 turnovers on offense.

Things to take into consideration as 99% of you haven't seen this team play.

7. I was afraid you were going to
I had analysis thought up since Sunday because I'm expecting every poster in this thread to pick Georgia and base their picks on the sorry ass season Arizona St had last year and basically all I'm saying is I can say without a doubt this team is better especially on defense with the addition of Vontaze Burfict(Video must see to know what I'm talking about). Now that doesn't mean they will win and I expect it to be very tough for Arizona St but I think they can do it.

Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 10:40 PM by JonLP24
Not with Georgia's defense giving up 400+ yards a game and Arizona St's defense is really improved and won't be able to last in a shootout like they have been playing. They don't have Stafford or Moreno either.
