Nice job on the Roid Sox yesterday. 15 wins and a 2.08 ERA now.

1. Could be an all Missouri Cy Young sweep
Greinke certainly should win it, although since he isn't a Yankee, he likely won't. And Wainwright should win the N.L. Cy Young as well.

3. Randy Johnson lost it to Clemens despite having a lower ERA and more strikeouts.
Clemens played for a better team and had more wins. So, he won it.

4. ESPN's Cy Young Predictor
currently has Greinke leading with Felix Hernandez second and Sabathia third.

And while Greinke and Hernandez have the better stats and are clearly more deserving, what do you want to bet that we see a little East Coast bias and the award goes to Sabathia?

7. every city with a team in the league
gets two votes. So exactly how does that create an east coast bias.

14. That's easy there are far more teams on the East coast
Edited on Wed Sep-23-09 09:06 PM by JonLP24
You got only 6 on the West coast plus Arizona and Colorado which makes 8. The rest are in the midwest and the east.

16. the middle of the country is not the east coast
Just as many teams in the AL Central as the AL East. I doubt Minnesota thinks of themselves as East Coast.

8. I would love it to go to Verlander
He's really turned it around since his off year in 2008. And, he got his team back into playoff contention (don't know if we can hang on but I hope so).

I fear it's not to be, though. :(

9. Ahem..
ERA

Greinke-2.08

Hernandez-2.45

Sabathia-3.31

Verlander-3.44

If there's any justice, the award should go to either Greinke or Felix..

for the reasons I pointed out before, picking up a fly ball pitcher like Washburn can be an iffy proposition. Then there was Washburn's knee problem...did you read this article?

I think you've got to lay much of this at the feet of David Dombrowski.
