NY Mets $145M salary roster = $2.2M per victory.
Pirates $25.2M salary roste = $0.44M per victory.
At least the Pirates are not spending as much of their money trying to get victories!!

4. When did I even mention anything about the Pirates? |
|
Little defensive there I see?
I'm not one to defend the Mets ridiculous spending habits. OTOH, lets not act like the Pirates are altruistic in this game either. They choose to invest nothing into that team at all. The owners of the Pirates just don''t give a shit.
And no, the Mets 145 million salary was not on the field this season. Their salary for most of this season with the guys out of the lineup falls into the 75-80 mill area. Lets not dismiss Wagners salary that's included in that figure and he never once took the feild this season.
Do the math on what the Mets salary was for the most of the season with these guys out of the lineup;
Delgado Beltran Reyes Putz Perez (who is no way worth even the 12 mill they gave him) Maine Niesse Nieve Sheffeild
And this last month, their all star pitcher, Johann Santana.
Either way, I've never once argued that spending money automaticly translates into championships. That's stupid. I could go across Baseball and Hockey and rattle off tons of teams that blow money every year and come up empty. Payroll doesn't play the games. Players do.

I just find it funny, that for it cost the Mets $118M to get nine more victories than the Pirates.
Just sayin!
I just found that little statistic, as meaningless as possible, a bit funny!

6. Notice how upton is nowhere to be seen? |

As the midgets are now 3 full games in back of the Braves in third (that's right, THIRD) place in the wild card? Wow, the Braves are only 2 back of the Crockies!

7. In order to choke one has to be expected to do good in the first place. |
|
No one expected the Giants to do anything close to what they've done this year. They've had a pretty good year and hung in there far longer than most expected, myself included. With some offense it may be them instead of the Dodgers in the playoffs next year.
