Great throw by Favre to win the game
:wow:

He completed 35-40 yard pass to win the game with 2 seconds left to cap off an 80 yard drive with a 1:30 left with no timeouts left. Minnesota 27, San Francisco 24.

7. their problem
was that they didn't play a prevent defense. If you keep the play in front of you, that doesn't happen.

8. The entire drive was a prevent. That's what I'm referring to.
From wiki:

"The cornerbacks and safeties in a prevent defense usually make a point in a prevent defense of defending the goal line at the expense of receivers in the middle of the field, thus making the formation susceptible to running plays and short passes."

The prevent allowed Favre to move the ball down the field until he was close enough to reach the end zone.

Until that drive the S.F. defense was doing a good job of shutting the Vikings down.

9. well
they certainly didn't protect the goal line. They had Minny at the 35 with 10 seconds left. You can't give up a big play there.

5. I'm not upset S.F. lost. I'm upset they lost THAT WAY...
playing a prevent D. Against Favre. They gave it away while adding to the Favre legend. They blew it. Greg Manusky blew it. Mike Singletary blew it.

6. that was devastating
The last 2 offensive drives were laughable. And i was thinking to myself as long as we don't do a prevent defense we'll win..........

12. This made my weekend.
I heard it on the radio while driving up Highway 5 from the Bay Area. It was a 33 yard pass if the Whiners radio announcer can be believed. But don't blame it on the prevent defense. The Whiners had a chance to ice it on their last possession. All they needed was one first down and they played it as conservative as Alan Keyes and only got 5 yards. Pussies.

13. They could have iced it if Dre Bly hadn't dropped that interception with about 1:40 to go
Favre threw it right into Bly's hands, he could have had an easy touchdown. Favre would have been the goat. Instead, because of Bly's incompetence, Favre is a legend (according to ESPN).
