Brett Favre should have his nuts ripped off with a plastic fork
we were two, count 'em, two seconds away from a breakout season, and the Drama (Vi)Queen had to go and destroy it. Now: 9-7, no playoffs, good tee times. And for what? Another chapter in the authorized bio that ghostwriter John Madden has taped to his bedside?? :grr:

The "plastic fork" line comes from longtime San Franciscan Hunter S. Thompson, in his poem "Collect Telegram from a Mad Dog". Norman Luboff, whoever he was, was the original victim of the fork.

6. 42 4th quarter comebacks. Favre has 42--forty-goddman-two 4th quarter
comeback victories in his career. Eight of those against the Vikings. I don't know how he manges to keep the lucky horse shoe he clearly has up his ass so shiny and effective, but he does. It may have looked bizarre, but for him it is almost...typical.

8. Typical, sure, when you give him all the time in the world to pass
The 49er defense had him shut down until that final drive when they employed the prevent defense. Yeah, Favre made a terrific throw on the TD. But the prevent D allowed him to get close enough to do it.

10. That sort of miscalculation could explain a few of those wins
but when you do that 42 times, there is only one explanation--deal. with. the. devil. And I am saying this as a lifelong Vikings fan who has had to swallow an inordinate amount of bitter rage caused by Brett Favre over the years. He just does this shit all the damn time. I'm still kind of conflicted over this.

Don't get me wrong--I'll take every win he can put up, but I was sitting there yesterday battling flashbacks.

The world is truly turned on its head these days.

12. You give any professional QB time to throw while playing behind the receivers
and he'll move the ball down field.

I'm not impressed with the drive. The throw, yes. The catch, yes. But the drive was a gift.

3. It was just one loss
and the 49ers are showing themselves to be an aggressive, hard hitting, solid team....they're definitely a serious contender, with Arizona's loss they lead the NFC West, and how many years has it been since 49er fans could say that?

5. Not to be too harsh on ya or anything, but
your tears are like candy to me. :P

On a more serious note--it is never the opponents job to lay down and let some team move on to greater things.

After YEARS of watching Favre do that sort of thing to the Vikings, it was odd to see him do it FOR the Vikings. I was kinf of surprised that I was so surprised actually.

7. This Packer fan agrees fully
To be fair, he damn near threw a pick on that drive, which would be right up to his normal standards.

11. It was truly a typical Favre performance.
I think Jim Souhan from the Minneapolis Strib pretty much sums it up:

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/premium/62286767.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUgOy9cP3DieyckcUsI

"As a prelude to his grudge match with the Packers and an homage to what he did to the Vikings as a Packer, Favre displayed the agony and the ecstacy of Favre-watching in one long afternoon.

He threw lasers to receivers who didn't know they were open. He threw shotgunned mallards toward grateful defenders. He sprinted downfield to body-block one of the best linebackers alive."

Yep, that's Brett Favre.

There will be hitting. Oh yes.

14. don't blame Favre
Blame your stupid defense for letting a mediocre receiver get by you with 10 second left in the game.
